thanks but no thanks.

18's are a little big for my old W123.

Jordan, any chance you'd be/could drive one of your test cars to kentucky?

kev, in reference to our fb discussion, it sounds like (from the benz forums) the stock springs are damned hearty. i'm going to order new spring seats and new shocks and bump stops and we can start there... take a coil out of each spring and see where he sits.

from a forum post about MB suspension bits:

Quote:
I've got some interesting news.

The old spring (19 years old) was sent down to Coil Spring Specialties.

It was tested and the spring rate was found to be 344 lb./in.

This compares to the factory specification fo 344 lb./in. Amazing.

w00t!!!

also sounds like MB springs (and springs in general) don't get THAT much softer (if any softer at all) over time.

so i'm gonna get shocks and those little spring pads and bump stops and we'll cut a coil or 1.5 and make wilhelm look sick.

then it's getting the monoblocks, pulling the tires off, selling the 2 good tires and then re-clearing them. i'll order new tires when the rims are done and i know the fitment will work (might need spacers, kinda worried about that steering arm but the 17's will be giant so i should be ok)
