correct me if I'm wrong timmeh.. but i believe hes asking because to get a 'kit' car to have a vin generated it needs a legit windshield and instead of ordering custom glass he wants to source a production car glass because cheaper and easily replaceable

well yes if you're going for off the shelf cheap and get to play with now...

my goal is to make a car with a better power to weight ratio than an s2000...

cause having driven my mom's s2000 i want something that fast or faster...

also want the best suspension i can reasonably design.

i'm just dumb and love a challenge/can't afford a miata so i'll spend time planning my fun car build so that when i have the money i can rock it hardcore.

Sneeze is right...

plan is to design my car "around" some common parts...

i want to use Miata uprights and Miata axles... and if a Miata windshield works i'll probably go with that, that way I can just get a donor miata, sell off the parts i don't want/need and take the bits i want.

plus i want to be able to get parts anywhere... so if i decide to go cross country for a race and i snap a CV, i want to be able to walk into an auto parts store, order/pick one up and keep going.

the parts i custom make i'll make spares of (within reason) and the actual motor and trans will be sourced from a motorcycle...

with a yamaha R1 to get a better weight/hp than the s2000 the car would have to weigh under 1450 pounds... if i use a hayabusa instead the car could weigh as much as 2150 pounds or thereabouts... so that'll be a decision i have to make eventually amongst about a million others (ever researched window regulators? me either til recently)

Shouldnt you have some decent experience racing before you design a car? Books can only teach so much but real life teaches so much more.
