You should seriously start like your own mini consulting business lol

If peopl want to have cars made they come to you to design and make drawings then they can use those to source random companies to make parts for them lol. And you can profit?

i'd be all over that, just not sure what the market is like for "some guy who designs a car for you". most guys either buy a seven or build it from the ground up like i want to. if anything i might be able to make my car NOT look like a total Zonda ripoff (if it does i wouldn't be sad) and try to sell the design or something. something like what me you klod and kyle were talking about earlier this fall. that got me going on this. klod's busy and wants to save (fair enough) and you and kyle haven't shown too much interest (at least not in the design, and i can't blame you [so many things to think about!!!] ) so i've just been chugging along designing my 42" tall car (should it come with a towel?)

maybe someday i'll actually build one, but until then it's a great way to forget how much my ex is raping me in the ass every month and keep my dreams alive

Then the trim is just stretched over the seat. The trim has whats called a tear seam were in the area where the modual is has different strength thread (weaker than rest of stitching) and set to a slightly looser tension to promote breaking when the bag deploys.

Sourcing and installing a new airbag modual should be easy, but then just replacing a cover would be your best bet
Thanks Achoo. I'm going to drop by the dealership to inquire about these items right meow.

Just as I was afraid of....Here, have a laugh. Thanks for the PM and link Klod. I think that may be a better option than trying to fix lol.

knowing what the airbag module goes for I figured it might be

even if you still use your current seats (if they are in better shape) and use those ones for parts you'd be better off.

the air bag is 2 bolts its very easy to swap over from what I recall when I had my svtf seats sewn back together.

klod (and anyone else who wants to know how to make a 5'11" man fit into a 36" tall space and still leave 4" of ground clearance)

so here's the data i just nabbed from the model of the driver position in the dp1 (some guy started a small business making track cars, his first was the dp1 i imagine you've heard of it)

on the upside, the driver is (currently) at almost 90degrees thigh to chest, but i don't like having the feet elevated (i've tried it in real life, it's awkward)

so i imagined what would happen if we dropped the feet (and subsequently the knees) down to the floor.

this gives a slightly more laid back position (should be more comfortable) doesn't make the driver any taller (30.8" from butt to top of head!!!! [sans helmet of course]) and since most sports car/racing seats feature a slight recline from the factory... we should be good to go.

the difficulty is the 40 degree offest of the head from the chest center.... that'll be mildly uncomfortable when streeting the car, but a real ball buster on a track pulling some G's... the guy's solution was to build a custom seat from scratch (oh god no, please not that) but i'm HOPING (key word) that the helmet and the built in headrest in the racing seat will be sufficient to raise the head up.....

i can also unrecline the driver a bit (and i probably will) but that costs me in the vertical department (current max driver + seat height is 38") so i'll have to play with it, but i'll have to do so with my own model... because this guy's isn't editable...

anywho. progress is progress... thinking about using my manikin, the drawings i have, and a trusty steel rule to start mocking up the idea of a roll cage....... or maybe i'll start working on suspension pickups. not sure.... need to get a suspension modeling program to evaluate my options.

yet another post.... because, let's admit it... at least sneeze and klod are interested, and no one else is on here talking about cars :P

i found a better model (yay moveable limbs!!!!)

and i positioned him in a seating position like so....

this assumes 4" of seat and seat slider bracket (i hope i can come out under that and use a side mount seat to adjust angle/height/etc)

and our little guy fits just fine!!! and he has pretty good visibility!! (might be slightly worse, haven't played with the windshield curvature to find the real cutoff point... although i can slope the dash down if need be)

here he is!!! (gotta love the juxtaposition of solidworks model and MS paint)

also he has no arms (i suppressed them) because none of the body parts are mated together, so it annoyingly disconnects all the limbs when i move anything.

also the mannequin is supposed to be 6'3" so my tall ass should fit!!!
