all of them?

whoops all of them was to sneeze

RX: Terry is the best of the best, most of the MI guys with manual transmissions have had him do their work including off the top of my head: Drew, Elliot, Jeff, Andrei and I think Jen, Rob, Jake as well.
the level of his builds depends on the type of power you want. he's done LSD's and full builds all the way down to OEM type refreshes. ballpark pricing? extremely dependent on what you want done.....anywhere from $500 up to $3500

when your talking custom work nobody will be able to give you a "rough ballpark" unless they had the exact same work done that you're having done.

Im just looking at refreshing the oem transmission. 3rd gear syncro is also going and needs to be replace. I remember something about like $290 for a stock rebuild and then another $120 for forged syncros? Does that sound atleast close? My dad knows a guy and he is talking about 800-1200 just for the stock oem rebuild. And he says that's giving me anamazing deal

Ryan,

Terry Haines was one of the engineers who developed the MTX-75 transmission. He's worked for Ford, Roush, etc. He built the MTX-75 transmission for the only v8 hayabusa powered ariel atom in NA and the fastest ford contour in the world. He really knows his stuff, and is the only person i would trust to work on my transmission (if i still had a focus).

His number is 616-874-1148, email is secondline@ameritech.net

Last time i talked to him the basic labor was $250, IIRC pretty much "flat rate" and you pay for the parts you want fixed or added while he's in there. Keyed tower is $220, double blocker 3rd gear is $90, 4.06 is ~$200. The 4.06 will make a DRAMATIC difference on your car. I went from the PZEV 3.41 to the 3.82 of a non PZEV mtx-75 and it was significant. You have to drop the trans yourself and drive it to him in the Grand Rapids area. IIRC he said it would take 7-10 business days based on how busy they are.

Give him a call and tell him what you're looking for. He will talk your ear off.

edit: If you don't plan on going the terry haines route, I would recommend just buying a used mtx-75 out of an 05-07 Duratec and installing that. Not only will you get a lower miles trans, but you'll be getting the shorter 3.82 final drive. When i did the swap i found one on craigslist for $100 and sold my stock one for $250 to another local. My stock trans was in good working order though.

Do go with Terry! The only problem im having with my transmission now is due to my driving style... (dont jump from 2nd to 5th a lot... kinda kills the syncros). He is an awesome person to work with. Great pricing. Flat rate listed is right. Its nice b/c you arent being charged for any more labor than that. The rest is just pricing and any other mods that you want done. I'm going to be bringing mine back to him soon to have him replace my syncros. Then I will no longer be jumping that many gears...

Seriously send him an email, very responsive (within a day). Super helpful, ive sent him as many people as I can.

Hey elliot, what rpm were you cruising at on the highway (70mph) with that final drive?

I would seriously talk to him also for pricing. That seems a bit high, i paid 1500 ish and I had the cost of a quaife, keyed tower, new shift tower (old style was around 1-200 dollars), new shift forks, and some syncros.
