Nerds...need help.

Gravity.

Will two objects the same size and shape but different material (aluminum vs steel) fall at the same rate in real world and in a vacuum?

Please discuss and provide link or math to prove response.

Shouldnt matter for weight differences right? if same size then same aerodynamic properties then fall at same rate.......I think

waiting for nerdier people to provide nerdier answers

I believe weight effects real life and vacuum rate of fall.

The weights are different thus material differences.

Lets use a cube 4"x4"x4" of steel weighing 8lbs and same size cube of aluminum weighing 3lbs.

Steel should hit ground first in all cases at over double the weight.

Negative.

Take a bowling ball, a golf ball and a wiffle ball and in a vacuum.. they will all hit the ground at the same time. Why? becuase gravity is a constant.. is is the acceleration that moves said objects down wards... The force at which each hits the ground will be different based on mass, but the speed at which and time at which they hit should be the same.

In real life there are air resistance forcse and cross winds and that kinda thing which skew all that, cuz if you droped a full v empty milk jug from a height high enough the full jug will most likely hit the ground first

Outside of a vacuum mass will have to be taken into affect.

What sneeze said.

something that small but that heavy for either aluminum/steel should be dense enough to fall at about the same rate and not be affected by gravity/wind/etc

unless your dropping them out of an airplane they should be hitting ground at the same time.

Objects hit ground at the same time assuming dropped at exact same time.

the wiffle ball would have a lot of wind resistance, since they designed it not too build velocity for 8 year olds that are hitting them during recess.
