Anyone know where to grab a car service ramp (pair of them) in Metro Detroit? Looking for a decent quality one...made in USA preferred...I know I can get them online but would like to do an oil change this weekend and I have bad luck lifting unibody vehicles with a jack...

Harbor Freight....won't be usa made, but it would be tough to find usa made anyway. If you use ramps with a front drive car be sure to pin them so they won't shoot out under your rocker panels as you apply power to go up said ramp....ask me how I know.

How do you know Dan?

I kid of course my parents driveway has a break in the cement that works pretty well for bracing ramps against but I still am not a huge fan just because of the shooting out effect. That and I hate re-hanging my bumper after the ramps rip it off.

I've never heard one of these bikes before but youtube suggests they must sound awesome

I was driving my girlfriends (now wife) Maxima with a stick shift up the ramps and applied a little too much gas...I did not know it was a front drive car!! All of a sudden BAM!! Two ramps are under the rocker panels. Color me embarrassed.....she married me anyway.

Theres always the option of learning the proper method to lift a unibody car with a jack...especially if you've already got the jack/stands.

I can understand buying American if possible especially with actual tools....but for something that's either a plastic molded part or a bent sheet of metal with some sides tacked on are you really expecting a huge difference in quality?

If this purchase being American made is a deal breaker for you I'd think you'll probably have to be prepared to drive a bit out of town to find somebody that has them in stock.

just my .02
