Back in MI (for now)....a couple of trips planned to Atlanta (x2), Louisville and Hershey, PA in the next few months. I have become a "Pageant Aunt"...

Waiting to hear about teaching job-they are checking references and doing a background check. Yesterday, I got a call from a Billing/Coding recruiter. They offer remote, local and travel positions!! Have some online competencies to take and go from there....

Dan need eBay kit!! Duh!

I like the ease, smoothness, battery life, and how well it runs.

So far I like it more than win7 pro by far and I'm very good with anything computer related!

aku, if the timing chains need to be replaced on a motor one of 4 things has occured:
1) The chain design was shitty and weak to begin with
2) The car has done a bazillion miles (and needs an engine rebuild anyways)
3) someone took really shitty care of the motor (see note on number 2)
4) someone but ZOMG 80,000,000 HP on it and it revs so fast the chains stretched

I seriously think you're ok. a timing belt is a crap-tastic little service item that works well enough but doesn't require lubrication (also makes adjusting timing easier, makes taking the head of without dropping the motor easier, etc)

timing chains are beefy SOBs, if anything it's the tensioners that would need replacing if all the plastic/teflony stuff wore off (unlikely, would require someone to seriously neglect the motor)

BEHOLD.... CHAINS!!!!!

because racecar :P

Speaking of, anyone ever change a battery in their iPod? I have a 30gb 1st Gen video that doesn't hold a charge. Is it a task I can undertake myself? Or recommendation for places to get batteries.

I read on ebay you can get a turbo kit for $1,500 that will add 300hp on top of what you already have! you should def buy one way high quality.
no worries, and look it up on ifixit, shouldn't be hard at all if you can get the part

I think I'm buying a set of these from a guy in Westland tonight...

$320 with tires I don't want, but are practically new Pirellis. Only buying them because I can sell the CSVT wheels, and some tires I have, and these Pirellis, and probably make $$ on the deal. So I'll be posting up my wheels for sale here in a day or two, anyone want??

when doing weight reduction that driver mod can be a bitch. some of us are lucky and have it already. i feel bad that i'm one of the fortunate ones and i can't even benefit from it.

this is a VW these aren't a lifetime service thing like a ford.
what happens is the tensioners wear down and then the chains are loose and then they wear abnormally quick and then your chains are bad as well as your tensioners
trust me you will probably wind up changing them in the next year or 2 if you have the car that long.

Ditto although I've noticed weight sneaking up on me.
I've put on a decent 10lbs since last fall.
