After driving if you put it in neutral rolling up to a stop, it sets at 2k+ (higher with AC on) for several seconds before very slowly creeping back to idle.

If it sits at idle for a long time, it starts hunting, between 500 and 900 rpm, but if you touch the throttle it's fine.

The car drives fine under load.

If I unplug the IAC, the idle smooths out, but the car has a distinctive bog on throttle tip in. I'm thinking it could be the IAC, thoughts?
You have a vacuum leak somewhere. Your engine should stall when you unplug that. Could be that hose, if it's anything like the zetec one that does a 90° turn and always collapses and cracks there. The iacv is a controlled vacuum leak so if there's any others it won't be happy. I'm fighting with this right now too.

Also thanks for the pics of Tom, his voice doesn't match him at all lol

Good to know, so the vacuum leak is keeping it running when the IAC valve in unplugged? Guess I'll order a PCV hose. Dang.

Si señor. Tis what I was saying. I replaced that hose on the black car when I had it and it helped. That car was a mystery though lol

so my friend hasa 2002 kia rio, and she keeps getting this whiny noise for like 20 seconds after she starts her car. i cant really explain it, i tested the alternator and its not a power issue. the thing that i dont get is that it goes away. if it was some sort of exhaust leak the sound wouldnt go away.
