Thermostat Housing leak and Warrenty..
Well from reading all of these threads looks like i have a thermostat housing leak. Radiator fluid drips from my car at a slow level right where the thermostat is. When i bought the car used, it came with a 5 year/75000 mile powertrain warrenty. At 37xxx miles, my check engine light jsut came on as well.
Do any of you guys know if the ford dealership will cover the replacement of this part since i have this warrenty? Just wondering if any of you guys have gotten it done by ford cuz no use in spending my money on parts when i can get it done for free. Thanks.

The only way to know for sure is to read the warranty and also ask them. I would not assume this is covered under the powertrain warranty. And if you have a non-Ford extendend warranty, they differ quite a bit and often have some odd exclusions and deductibles.

i myself actually work for an aftermarket warranty company, our powertrains cover NO seals and gaskets unless its needed on an authrized repair, say u had an internal problem and the valve cover had to be removed then we would cover ur valve cover gasket...most powertrain is limited to ALL INTERNALY LUBRICATED PARTS OF THE MOTOR INCLUDING TIMING BELT AND GEARS and a few other items such as tranny.....hope this helps.

but a more positve note, i myself had to change that gasket, the leak is just under the coil pack right? if so I bought a fel-pro gasket for under 5$ and it took about 20-30 minutes to install, probaly less if u move at a quick pace, i work very slowly

See the problem with the design is the seal usually breaks the thermostat housing. Replacing the seal won't fix it alone; you need a new housing.
My girlfriend's 2000 just blew hers a couple of weeks ago, and the wounds on my hands from fixing it are almost done healing.
