the dealers name is Showcase Chevrolet. as of today i tried to get in touch with the general manager this afternoon but never got a call back, guess they only work half days.

i called gm directly and nothing was resolved...just sorry this and sorry that. this makes me even more pissed off.

My question is wtf is the car needing to be driven any further than the driveway to the garage? Is there a reason he would need to take it for a drive to "test the oil"?????? Oh, and yes, you probably could file a criminal suit AND civil suit (if you can prove any damage to your car). Oh, and kicking him in the nuts. Just walk in, look at him, smile, and punch him square in the face and walk out.

Oh, one more thing. Call the BBB. Seeing that you were charged for work that wasn't provided at the time of service, I'd report them and again, file a criminal suit.

Heck yeah, and it's definately not limited to the automotive industry. We had a guy install a new outlet at a hair salon. My boss asked me to go over to that salon and see why the outlet wasn't working. After I pulled it out of the wall, I realized it wasn't wired- he had simply put an outlet in the wall. When we confronted him later that day he said "They just said they wanted a plug in the wall there- they didn't say it had to work."

Ah, unprofessionalism at its finest. As a computer tech, I've seen guys do things with other people's computers that I would be horrified by. (looking at internet porn, rifling through people's hard drives for random crap, other insanity)

As for dealerships, Chevy dealers are just as hit or miss as Ford dealers are. My fiancee's 04 Malibu has had nothing but trouble with that darned ecotec engine (the 2.4 iirc). The selling dealer kept telling us that there was nothing wrong with the car after leaving it in the parking lot for two hours while we waited (spent 5-10 minutes actually looking at it). We found another dealer (John Seretti in Moon Township, PA - they rock for those pittsburghers with chevies) who actually spends time with us and makes efforts to resolve our issues. Granted, it's irritating that after 3 repair attempts they still can't keep the car from stalling, but they are actually working on the issue and taking us seriously. We now have them do our maintenance (the selling dealer didn't grasp the concept of changing the filter despite the fact that it's in plain sight).

No Chevy dealer should be able to claim that anything with an ecotec is new as that engine has been around for quite some time (in cavaliers and malibus since 2000/2001 or so iirc).

Sorry to hear about your troubles! I'm glad that the guy who picks up my SVT is an older man. Not saying he won't beat on it, but I'm sure he drove it like a grandpa! If something did happen right now, I'd tell him to roast the tires (got new ones on the way) and that I wouldn't care!

I know how you feel about people beating on vehicles though! I think maybe 4 people have driven my car other than me (since I purchased it at least). The only person who really ticked me off is a coworker. I didn't hear him take off and he never said anything, but I saw the marks when I went back to the other jobsite. I thought he did a burnout on the gravel... would have really ticked me off! So I asked another co-worker and they said that he redlined 1st and shifted into 2nd (residential zone BTW... little kids on end of road), then SLAMMED the brakes last minute on gravel.

Guess he won't be driving it again... unless I can get someway to limit the revs with the throw of a hidden switch.

Or you can just bust all 4 tires prior to dropping it off and seeing how far he can go on flats...
