stupid pep boys---rant

so i got my wheels a coupld months ago and one wasnt balenced right so i took it to pep boys to get it balenced and i decided while i was there, to get them put on. well i go to take the wheels off my SE (now my dads) and put them on my new zx3. we get to the last lug nut and it breaks off. it broke the part of the axel the lug nut screws into. i look at the lug nut, with the broken peice in it, and you can see it was put on crooked. so they say to bring it up tomorrow and i no they will deny it and ill be stuck with a bill for it.

thanks for allowing to vent but is there anything i can do to prove they are at falt, i have all the documents of them putting them on

Was it in the front or rear? If its in the front, its really easy to fix.

That, my friend, is from a person with air tools not starting the nut by hand. Whoever took it off last should be getting a visit. Or better yet, call from Pep Boys and let them know that they damaged your car.

i did give them a call and they said not to drive it cuz its unsafe, but then said i need to drive it to them for them to check it out(figure that out) and when i mentioned it was their fault, they started to like stumble over their words and got quiet.
so after my soccer tryouts tomorrow im off to pep boys

Well don't assume you're automatically going to get screwed in this deal.

Don't yell, don't threaten, don't lose your temper, just ask to speak to the manager, show them what happened and request a new stud and lug nut at no charge. They are a reputable business and stand behind their work. But nothing is perfect and everyone is human. Stuff happens. Give 'em a chance to make it right and I think you will be fine. :)

Let me guess the Pep Boys near Costco in White Marsh, MD? Trust me when I say this, never go there, worst Management I've ever seen. They sold me a set of tires once (just tires I was gonna get them mounted somewhere else) because their price was really really good and the date code ended up being 4 years old. Yeah I know should've know with those prices but when I told the manager I wouldn't accept those tires due to the date they still charged me a restocking fee when they never left their building. I complained to their corporate office, well corporate musta chewed out their general manager or something because an hour later I had the same manager I spoke with calling me up to refund the rest of the money.

I work for Pepboys. I would recommend one store in the whole company, the one on Washington Blvd. in Los Angeles. This is simply because its attached to the corporate office, so its only staffed with the best.

Otherwise, stay away from the service centers, they dont always hire ASE cert

Ouch, If i were you, I would avoid releasing private information on this forum. I appriciate that comment very much, because you potentially saved me alot of money, however, I'm sure you have a secrecy policy of some sort, so careful there.
