Exclamation First time on the strip with manual focus.

Well I went to the local 1/8 mile drag strip last Friday and put my car out there for a time before I start the modding.

1st Run- I absolutely embarrassed myself, I drove OVER and PAST the staging sensors b/c the last time I was there I could of SWORE they were further up. Well after sinking in my seat while people were laughing I rolled back and staged up, I tried to bring up the revs and by the time I looked down to see the RPM the lights were going I was pissed. So I dropped it to high and wheel hopped ALL THROUGH 1st gear. My friends watching thought I had broken something b/c of the noise it made. I ended up with a 11.09 and a .8??? reaction time!!

2nd Run- It took me a while to get up and do it again b/c of fear of hopping down the track like the easter bunny again. So I got up and staged right this time, I was not watching the RPM's but rather watching the lights and listening to the engine. The lights started going down and I featherd off the cluth and got a small CHIRP from the tires, after that it was on the floor and I was running as hard as I could! I ended with a .3000 reaction time, a 2.6 60ft, and a 10.4 time!!

3rd Run- Same as second but I bogged on the launch and ended up with a .5??? reaction and a 10.5.

I am pretty happy with my second run and its just gonna get better.

Jon

Nice man, dont worry my first run at the strip ever was in my focus... I ended up with a 12 second 1/8th mile time I look back and now I dont think I could do that if I tried. You will only get better with practice and with mods.

Like they say about auto x I think it applies to all types. Get out there even if your stock learn how to do it so when you start making power your not trying to hit the ground running.

^^ yup been there, done that myself Jon, running a 19 in the 1/4 in my focus with a 4-5 second burnout LOL kinda sucked.... not to mention accidentally pushing the clutch in and revving the car to redline about 2/3 of the way down the track.

That was my first time, sucked bad.......

haha actually last week i went to my track, i passed up the line just barely (i'm in an automatic) so i reversed and for some reason thought i had it back in drive, but nope, was in neutral(luckily not reverse) and when i gunned it i just revved it up, and i felt so retarded.

people made fun of my focus for being so slow, this guy yelled 'i have a van that runs better times than that'

i ran consistent 10.9s...then some 11s....best was 10.6 and i have mods... in winter when i went my best was 10.4 :(

Wow, i realy dont feel so bad, but still this is not my first time on the track. I took my SPI down thier and ran a few times one day aswell. It was just so long ago i forgot where the stage sensors were.
