What should my cruising rpms be?

Six speeds are cool but I don't always know what gear I should be in. If I'm cruising on the highway what rpms would be best for the car?

If you're cruising on the highway, speeds around or above 60mph, you should be in 6th gear. It's what my father likes to call, "The Gas Saving Gear".

At some point or another, you'll want to pass someone, at which point, grab 5th, get around the guy, and go back up to 6th.

In answer to your "cruising rpms" question in your topic--between 1500 and 3k rpms is "cruising". 3k and above is the "ready to kick @ss" range. :)

Sincerely,

Beetle

I run mine "econo" up to 4000RPM, while sustained at a speed I have it about 2200 to 2500ish... When you get to 6th gear... Who cares?! Just go... Can't shift anymore so why worry!
