which model year SVT is best ?

Considering buying a 2003 Focus SVT and never owning one before I'm wondering if there is one model year that is more desireable than the next ???

the lastest model of any car is usually the best, well model of that generation so in this case it would be the 04. But im the 03s seem pretty good too, its the 02s you have to worry about.

You should be OK with an 03, just check it out carefully and also find out if the TSB's have been done on it, specifically the clutch TSB. If so, you should be OK unless the previous owner beat the hell out of it and didn't maintain it. lol

i would def. spend my money on a different car. if your picky, you will sor sure be in and out of the stealership all the time. in fact. i just got back today. i am about to bust out of my bumper to bumper, and i had to take care of some loose ends. only buy 1 if the factory warranty is intact and you pay less than 11K. ALSO...DO NOT get an '02. simply cuz there isnt a 5yr/100K mile powertrain warranty on them. only '03 and up.

I don't think ALL 02's are problem children but it seems that with first gen cars you have more problems out of the bunch than with the later year models. That seems to hold true with most vehicles, not just SVTF's.

Yeah, a later model with warranty and euro package would be the way to go. Stuff on this car can get costly quick. If you have the vin# someone on these boards is doing free carfax reports. It's stickied in general chat. Luckily when I bought mine someone off a ZX2 forum had free carfax reports and ran the vin# and decided to buy it. Fun car, love mine.

Yeah I am trying to find one with the EAP. To tell you the truth the svts are a crap load of fun. I had never even been in one untill today. Its the only one for sale in manitoba and its the second one acctualy in manitoba. Think of it this way there were up untill last week more Ford GTs in Manitoba than SVT foci. its pretty sad.

I am gonna try and find an 03 aswell.

one question can you get the certificates re printed?

EDIT: I found a place that explains it
"Special Vehicles Team mails out Certificates of Authenticity and Letters of Authenticity for Special Edition vehicles to new owners based on the information provided by the dealers. If you haven't received yours or purchased an SVT vehicle used, you may obtain a Certificate from SVT by faxing them a current registration or vehicle title to: 313.621.2500 upon review of your information you will receive a certificate in 2 to 4 weeks, be sure to include a phone number so you may be contacted if there are any questions. If you need more information visit Ford Special Vehicle Team online: www.SVT.FORD.com or call them toll free: 800.FORD.SVT (800.367.3788) have your VIN # handy."

Theres a sticky in the svt lounge, i think. I believe now they cost $30us to purchase but you can call SVT and they will give you the info over the phone providing a vin#. Not entirely sure. I know I got one for free right before they started charging $$$ for the certificates.
Yeah, when I test drove one I new I had to buy it.
