Intake if going turbo??

Hey guys(and girls)!
I'm going to go turbo in the near future and was wondering what kind of intake i should get to best beneifit when i go turbo. Intercooler and wait? or what i dunno i have no experience with putting on a turbo. My dad has a sick turbo beetle though. Im just curious what intake to go thanks!

short ram i would assume. Really with the intercooler it doesn't matter. Infact most turbo kits come with a new intake anyway. My dad has a TDi Bug Turbo Diesal :P

Well all diesals are turbo it;s how the engines work. Naw u'd be surprised they got some bite to them. My dad did get a chip put in for $300 wich added 25hp to wheels and some good more gas milage even though he already gets close to 50mpg. Once he puts in some bigger injectors the thing will fly. Hows this it's kinda wierd with the awsome 5th gear in the car from 60-90 not many cars can beat it i'm serious

turbos respond well to to mods. especially things that alter ignition timing and fuel curve. most turbo kits just have a custom intake with a cone filter somwhere in the set up. heres a pic of the the svt kit with the bumper off, u can see the filter....

what about the intake manifold itself, wouldn't that need an overhaul? At what point does the stock, and even the 2000 intake become a bottleneck?

I think it depends on what psi you are going to run. I'm sure the more free flowing the better, but since the jump to an FR or FC manifold is a big one, an early 2000 surely will do the trick for most 6-8 psi applications. For what its worth, I believe a short runner intake like the FC is the optimal choice.

not all diesels are turbo, in fact more arent than are
