Focus Fanatics (Detroit Area) Beach party!

Poll: Is July 22nd A good date for the beach party?

Alright people! as we all know, focus enthusiasts arent just about cars and mods. we like to kick back and enjoy a day in the sun with our friends, too!

After the last detroit area meet, this idea was brought up by Tim (SilverBullet04SVT) and i've since heard that others liked the idea, so we're setting up a beach party event that will take place at Stony Creek on July 22nd. This will allow about a week and a half for us to recover from Independence Day, which to me seems plenty reasonable.

If we get enough people rallied, then we may have to take up a collection to pay for reservation, but this is only in the event that we get 50 or more people and would only cost an additional $2 per person.

Beer and Wine ARE allowed in the park. no bottles, though.
daily park passes are $4. Annual is $20

WEATHER WATCH

TO ENSURE GOOD WEATHER FOR THE EVENT, THE DATE HAS BEEN CHANGED TO SUNDAY, July 23rd,

I scouted the area and we'll meet at the Southdale Picnic Area, the entrance for this will be right after the Eastwood Beach parking area. Southdale is the second drive on the left, if I remember correctly.
I will be getting there in the morning, probably around 9-10am so I can secure an ideal location for the group and make preparations for the event.

We will need to bring a couple of our own grills, since park placed ones are sparse at best. I may be able to bring a gas grill, and Tim mentioned having one he can bring as well. I didn't see any places to dispose of hot coals, so keep this in mind.
I also have a fold out table and some chairs for extra seating.

feel free to help out and bring meat, chips, beverages, etc.
PM me if you are willing to help with set-up, or with a list of any items you can provide so I know what to pick up for the event

Don't forget your SUNBLOCK, this will be an ALL DAY event =p

-Paul

I cannot commit as of yet. While it looks like it might work out we'll have to see when it gets closer. But I'm probably down. I can bring hot dogs and stuff if nessicary.

the date isnt really set in stone just yet, but its what we're aiming for. this will definitely one of those 'weather permitting' type events, so if it looks like rain as we approach the event date, it may be sooner or later than the 22nd. part of why I picked a saturday - gives one day slack either direction =p

and yeah, food contributions from those who can definitely make it will be awesome.

Haha, it's in Michigan, he should probably have put that in the title I guess. It's near Detroit sorta.

Lanting... you could just drive to Manty or Milwaukee and take the Focus over on the Car Ferry....

I might be interested in going with you if you do that.....
