good something for me to do in a little bit. thanks doug. i know since i had installed my cai it's been easier access to that location when my linkage "falls" off the shifter when i shift.

Tell me about it. I have had my linkage pop off more that once while trying to shift to 2nd gear real fast thereby leaving me gearless until I pulled over and reach my hand in that HOT engine compartment and pop it back on. I am hoping that removing the counterweight that will go away.

On a side not, I learned to use the tire iron cover as a heat sheild to keep from burning my hand while popping it back on.

I just did this and all i have to say is HOLY SHIT!!!!!! Not only are the shifts crisper, but the shifter feesl even lighter. One thing though, I think there should be a little bit of weight put back on, instead of the heavy one we lready have. I have yet to put my Mac engine mount on, but I hope that will further increase my ability to go faster.

^^^I just did it too and drove around that back cury roads. Holy shit mongral it does make a world of difference. No more clank from that damn thing either when I move the shifter around. Definitly a positive 5 minute mod(well if your intake just pulls off like mine :D

leave the bracket on but just take that 5lb weight off. this works great i just did it and the shifter already feels lighter. popping and proping the hood up took longer then to take off that little bolt can't wait for my sts. i even thought about just hacking 4 inches off my shifter but i don't want to hack it up so i'll just buy a real sts.

yeah it sucks jay. happend to me during an autocross lol. finished that run in 90 seconds my quickest run was around 40 seconds lol. i've had it pop off going into 4th on the on ramp but i was already approaching 90 mph so i was pushing it
