I've had my counterweight removed for well over 10,000 miles, and I'm very used to it. I recently put a 400 gram (roughly 1 pound) Razo shift-knob on my SVT and the extra weight of the shift-knob made up for the LACK of weight accompanied with the counterweight removal. I am considering drilling out the weight and putting the bracket back on to see how it is. Can anybody give me some feedback as tot he affects of this procedure? I have gotten used to the 'notchy' feeling, but I would not mind a 'smoother' feeling shift. Of course I can't expect it to feel nearly as good as a really nice honda 6 speed, but the closer I can get it the better, and I feel like it's at least 75% better than it was when I first bought the car with NO mods..so progress!

I've been keeping track of this thread ever since Doug first opened it up...I've always been hesitant to remove my weight because I have lost 5th and 6th gears before and it sucks. I might do it just to try, but I would feel nervous ALL the time, afraid of every shift knowing that this next one could handicap my SVT...

OMG OMG OMG I can't believe this mod. I absolutely love this. I recommend this mod to everyone. Shifter never felt so great. Now I want a weighted shift knob.
