No worries on firmness, I've bean racing for more then 10 years at the drag strip. The Lightning is my first auto trans. Just wanted to know if it will still take a powershift with the weight removed saince the weight helps to "force" it into gear. The last thing I need is for it to kick it out of gear.

i just put my weight back on. it feels that it gives the shifter momentum to go into the next gear, thus making quicker shifts. i dont know. it felt like the cables were doing too much work. but its on now, and i feel better about it as well.

This is actually a pretty common mod on a lot of manual fwd cars with cable shifters. I've done this mod to a Tiburon although its a little different but same basic idea. Sorry if anyone has already pointed this out.

Just did the MOD a few day's ago and must say that I like. But has anyone had the shifter lock all the gears out?? Hasn't happened to me, but someone else driving the car. No problems all week, but then my brother takes it Friday and Saturday and has problems with it not wanting to shift at all.

is he blaming the mod or does he just not how to drive standard shift? i .put mine back on not because i was having problems but because i had to take it in to be serviced as my linkage pops off the tranny on hard shifts, they said everything was fine... bullshit. but that has happened long before i did this mod. a couple wire ties holds it on for now... i will do this mod again but i don't know when.

I just did this mod... overall, I like the new feel of the car. I will closely monitor it and baby it for a little while. I don't want any linkage problems.

I think he was trying to blame the mod. I went out today to try and drive the car and I can't even get it to shift when the engine is on. So I put the stupid weight back on but it still wouldn't shift. Hopefully in the morning I will be able to look under the dash and see if one of the clutch sensors is not working. Because when I tried to shift it into reverse once with the engine on, it went BANG and the engine died. So I think the clutch is not disengaging. But I don't know. I just really don't want to go to the DEALERSH!!!!!! The are retards here where I live.

november '06 5.0 mustang & super fords mag has a 12 page focus fanatic section!! I picked it up only because I saw the small "focus" wording on the cover! anyway inside it has an article on installing the powerworks blower kit, after explaining the somewhat difficult install, they show a pic that says"The arrow is pointing to a shifter weight that must be removed to avoid interferance w/the blower case in some gear pos. the weight seemes to be an inertia device that pulls the shifter into the next gear. The only effect after removal is that shifting feels a bit notchier than before--it's not bad, just different." At least somebody put us back in a mag!!

Does this only work on the SVT or is it the same on all manual foci?
