yea, I had a nightmare last night that I was out on the track digging through turn 6 heading for the back straight, when apparantly there must have been a good wreck somewhere up ahead. While I was still at top speed, the ambulance went cruising past me.. immediately followed by two hearsts and a fire truck...
Oh well. see you next year. |

The added power has made this a whole new car. You’re right when you say it will lower the simplicity. I was the same way, break for the turn, set up, and in almost every corner I was able to go full throttle immediately after setting up the turn. Now that I can liquefy the tires all the way through first, I am going to have to learn how to take the corners all over again as I don't think full throttle will work anymore. This of course will just make track days even better. I felt so slow on the straights as the AC Cobras went blasting by. With my brakes, suspension, and new power I just might be able to say out in front of them. |

Does this thread span 2 seasons?
Wow. Well it's nice to know there are a few other Focus owners abusing their cars at the Portland International Raceway. You all should definitely connect with the various other clubs if possible (the variety of vehicles makes things interesting). That track is deteriorating a little bit just now, with minimal maintenance being applied in front of some renovations apparently planned for the offseason (starts early this year in mid-September). It is still in considerably better condition that Pacific Raceways.
It was nice to see Paul out at a Lotus event earlier this year and just last week there was a blue U.S. Mk II (or whatever the 2005+ bodies are called) Saleen car running Nitrous Oxide in the novice group. Maybe we'll see some more of you folks out there once in a while! Keep the shiny side up. |

I would have loved to see the Saleen on the track. I have always wondered if they are just looks or do they really handle any better than say my car with the mods. I didn't make it out this year because my car was in the shop but I will try again next year.
A couple of pics from last year when my son and I went out with the SCCA club. I was bummed that this year they wouldn't allow him to ride along with the additional rules.....no passing on the back....urgs ![]()

2008 PIR Shelby Club Track day photos
Hey Jim,
Here are some stills I took on Tuesday. As usual, you were looking really smooth out there. I have some pretty sizeable video files as well. Unfortunately, I learned that my camera has no sound, which is a bummer, as I would rate sound 2nd on my track day sensory priority list, preceeded by smell (tires melting, brake and clutch fluid boiling.. etc..) with sight a distant third ! Anyway, let me know how to send you several hundred megs of video. My email is rritzman2 /a/t/ earthlink.net Cheers, Rob |
