Question Can any Ford dealer work on my SVT?

Sorry if this has been discussed before but I am getting conflicting stories. One dealer said they can't work on SVT's. Only approved Ford dealers that are "SVT certified" can. Another dealer said they can, they just have to call in the needed repairs for authorization before fixing needed work. So which is it? I have a Ford dealer across the street from where I work! Would be really handy! And I am need of some work soon!

I believe Ford just said a few months ago all dealers can do work on them

EDIT - Ford stated all dealers can sell SVT's now, not sure about servicing though

I would put my faith in a certified dealer.. I took mine to one that wasn't and they changed the oil with the wrong weight of oil... I like my car very much and only want people who know my car to work on it. Just my 2 cents

The best dealer I have found for service is fortunately the closest one to me, and after taking it to SVT-certified ones, I found that both the service advisor and one of the techs at my local one are SVT-certified, even though the dealer is not.

I specifically request them, and they take care of me - they fulfill the SVT-owner perks, too - I get a rental whenever leaving the car, and I get it washed and vacuumed (actually, they offer, but I turn that down, because the car is usually too clean to need it).

I took the car to an SVT-certified dealer for a slight clunk in the front end, and they swapped out the stabilizer bar end links, because they are known to be an issue. Did not solve the clunk, though. I took it to my local dealer with the two SVT guys, and they diagnosed a pass-side tie rod loosening up, and that took care of it.

So I think you should look for SVT techs, not necessarily SVT dealers.

Did you guys take your vehicles to a non SVT shop while under warranty and were they able to complete the work under warranty? That is the main question/concern I have.

I couldn't have said it better, your best bet is to go to the dealer talk to a service writer and then if you still have doubts ask to speak to the tech and feel him out. If your not comfortable leaving you car with him keep searching till you find someone you feel you trust

That is what I am hoping to do. But so far two dealers have said that they can't work on the car because it is a SVT. One said you had to go to an SVT dealer. The other said that they weren't authorized to do warranty work on an SVT. So that is part of my asking if they can even work on them. I might try a new one tomorrow just to see how they are/techs are cool and capable. Anyone in the Milwaukee area that knows of a good dealer?
