Unhappy Photo Inspection

Has anyone ever had any problems with their insurance company as far as the photo inspection while having mods on the car? (exhaust, springs) Just got a letter from my insurance company saying they need a photo inspection of my car 'cuz it's less then 7 years old, but I have an exhaust and it's lowered. Just wondering. Ugh! Any info would be neato, thanks guys.

They could raise your rate, but most of the time they will just send you a letter telling you they don't cover mods like custom graphics etc on repairs.

I've herd this happen before. But most of the time there is a reason for it. I have never seen an insurance company just randomly pick someone to send in pictures of there car. If my car had serious mods I would just drive around with the digital camera and find a stock focus that's the same color as mine and take a few fast shots. hehe. But normally they ask for pictures if you have made alot of claims in the past. That way if you have a dent in the door you can't claim it after the fact. Or if you got in an accident and you got sent the check, they might be making sure that you actully fix the car instead of pocketing the money. I actully did that with my last car got into a small fender bender and the other drivers insurance sent the check to me, so I bought a new system and then fixed the car my self.

Wasn't there a guy on this site that was dropped of his policyjust becase of decals, the insurance company said something about the car being used as advertizing or something. I would do what smoknzx3 and find a car the same style and color and take a couple pics. They didn't say it had to show your address in the pic or your tag right? What ever happends i wish you the best of luck.

I would take pics of it that just don't show the mods, or like you said, take pics of a stock focus look alike...but you can't just submit your own pictures, you have to go to a place and have someone do it. =T Buddy o' mine that read the actuall letter they sent me pointed out that it said something to the effect of "it's NY state law that a vehicle less then 7 years old, with COLLISION AND COMPREHENSIVE coverage must have photo inspection...blah blah blah." ...and that they're most likely just taking pics to look to make sure it's not damaged or whatever, not to give me a hard time and check my vehicle for mods they don't like. After all...I already have a policy with them. I dunno, just another thing to stress me out.
