Couple Questions....

Rotors- Drilled or Slotted?

Suspension- KYB or Roush?

SRI- Steeda or FocusSport? (Volant looks nicer, but I'm convinced that box restricts air flow, and the tubing looks liek it will absorb heat more)

Exhuast- Will Ztec headers fit or is the only upgrade the Escort GT headers?

Exhuast#2- Whats the best sounding one for me? I do not want to hear it while I'm idling at all, and when I accelerat I would prefer it to sound sporty more than powerfull. I'm thinking Borla, since I have a gut instinmct that Magnaflow will sound more like a muntang kinda like a roar rather then a low rumble I might get from a Borla. And I've heard too many bad stories about pacesetter.

CAI- Heard we get Hyrdo-lock really easy, I'm in the North East so we get alot of rain.

Pulleys- Will Ztec ones fit?

Thanks.

those are alot of questions. i dont know the answer to all of them and some of them are more personal preferences but here are my thoughts:

i'd personally go with slotted rotors cause i've heard that drilled ones can become slightly cracked over time (i've only "heard" it so i'm not positive on this)

a zetec header will not fit a spi without some modification. the escort gt heaer will also require some modification but not nearly as much as a zetec header would.

to get around the cai sucking in water you'll have to cut a small piece out and install a breather filter (i forgot yhe exact name) or build a small shiled for it (like out of sheet metal.

hopefully someone else can answer the rest of your questions and correct me if i've given any false information

EBC makes slotted and dimpled rotors. I've had them on the Mazda6 for quite some time now and have never had any problems with them, if you're afraid of cracking. However, I have heard the same thing about the drilled rotors cracking.

I'm quite happy with my Magnaflow Catback... I had made the same assumptions, but based on the amount of airflow I have coming in.. and about a year of experience... I can say that it doesn't have the stock sound that you're thinking of. It's got a really deep throaty tone that's easy to distinguish. My only ache about it is that it's not really all that loud.

If you're looking for an SRI, check out the Focus Sport Cool-Flo Air Intake System, I am about to purchase one myself, they give about a 3-4 HP and 2-3 TQ increase, but the big thing, that I noticed on the dyno sheet, was the increase in the powerband. It's worth a look.

As for exhaust check out the Focus Sport Exhaust also, from what I hear it has a nice sound, and also you can buy a "stealth" muffle to make it even quieter. If you don't like that I've heard good things about the MBRP and the HIA Exhaust.

CAI's are dangerous in areas prone to flooding, it's why I won't get one.

I hope this helps!

fyi the volant intake is made of a heat resistant plastic and the box desgin is made to get more "cold" air into the intake and there are 2 inlets for air the stock and one on the side which you can run a peice of dryer hose to your lower grile to get more cold air, just my $.02

Thanks.
1. I had both drilled and slotted rotors, I would go with just slotted on this one.

2. I suggest Eibach, but if you realy want to go between THOSE two I like KYB but I dont thing they make springs for the focus.

3. No a Zetec header will NOT fit the SPI.

4. Focussport has what you want, it compares to borla in my book. It has a VERY low rumble and during acceleration its a nice smooth tone, it then quets down at higher rpm and cruising.

5. For a CAI the part needed is a By pass valve, its made by AEM. A lot of people are gonna tell you you dont need it blah blah blah. Well think of it this way, spend 50.00 now and save almost a grand later.

6. not sure.

Thanks everyone for your help, I'm building up a big pro-con list for all the parts I need to buy, this really helped.

And for the last unanswered question, Zetec pulleys will not fit on the crank (UDP). The alternator pulley will work but it's an almost non-existant gain, just looks prettier.

I love the Borla, but it gets loud with the 4-2-1 header at the higher RPMs. Under 4k it's a deep rumble I likey.
