So, what are you gonna do to stop the wheelhop? Rear spring inserts?

Right now, I am seriously considering on buying a "real" aftermarket intake (I like my "stealth" intake, but want to get something that was actually engineered for the job).

I've narrowed it down to either the Steeda (never worry about hydrolock again), or the Cosworth (only intake that I know of that has CARB approval pending).

Also, I went to a local muffler shop and had them price a cat back for me. To have them purchase/install a Magnaflow, it would cost me about $550.

I've got a couple of extra bucks lying around, just don't know if I want to spend it right now. Want to get the intake situation taken care of first.

The only foci I know of that wants to go to the track is mvent, and he is 80miles away! Everybody around here doesn't really wanna go...cause I usually organize track days and invite them...and only the DSMs, fbodies, corvettes, and mustangs usually show.

Maybe I'll have to search harder for people within 20miles that have foci that wanna go to the track..lol.

Oh yeah, launching FWD cars is a bitch...I come from the land of RWD, and we don't know what "wheel hop" is.

Well Scott, "Yes" and "No".

Many people have already told WickedlyFastST that the M/T time was a freak (remember, M/T is the SAME mag that had tested the Cobalt SS as turning the same 1/4 mile time as an SRT-4 - LMAO).

But I ask you this: Are all automotive journals testing methods necessarily the same?

I don't think so. C&D makes for many "corrections" in their testing, and so therefore have ruled out many of the variables that are involved in timed acceleration runs.

Additionally, I have PERSONALLY VERIFIED their results with that of my own when racing various other showroom stock cars.

So no one will ever convince me that their figures are off. As a result, when C&D posts a time .... I bank on it.

Please don't tell me that you think that a "high 15 sec." car is "wickedly fast".

If so, what would you call an SRT-4 or an SVT S/C Cobra?

"Super" wickedly fast and "Super-Duper-Holy-Mamma" wickedly fast?

haha! firemanfrank good to hear from ya man. as far as that catback issue goes and such the focussport exhaust is fantastic but a little restrictive on the top end... if you were able to get a Trubendz exhaust (www.trubendz.com) in 2.5" diameter it would be a good thing.. you can choose either a borla, magnaflow or flowmaster muffler to go with it depending on your exhaust note taste. my friend ryan has the 2.3 in his 03 zx3 and has a marcy motorsport full cai and with the intake and fs stealth catback ran a 15.17 at 91 on 17" rims at good ol LVD. hes never mentioned an issue with hydrolock or even sputtering for that matter. since then hes done a few more things to the motor.. marcy stg 1 cams, draxas header, etc.. but has only bested a 14.90 @ 92.5 or so (spin and wheel hop not his friend). just a couple suggestions man, but anyways as far as the wheelhop, im looking into a whole new suspension... prolly eibach since i had great luck with their sportline stuff on my previous car and a rear spring insert or 2 for track days. the tires im using are fantastic. i really like their grip in wet AND dry. one thing ive noticed is a good set of rubber is worth its weight in gold at the track no matter if they are slicks or just a good sticky compound street radial. handling has def improved to the n'th degree (bf goodrich g-force sports) 205/55/15. anyways man stay in touch and be safe. later

WF you seem to take published reports too seriously. i think what firemanfrank was attempting to so eloquently point out was.. focuses are fuggin slow. they will never be "wickedlyfast". do we take pride in our cars.. sure as much as the next guy and we will defend that til the end but dont piss on someones wheaties and tell them its raining. all cars and all drivers were not created equal as much as we would like to think so. so.. being as this thread was created about focuszxt,firemanfrank and myself.. keep your negative comments to a minimum or flat out shut your mouth. simple enough?

How was I negative??? I simply stated that he annoy's me by the comments he makes.

Also... I very happy that your car is slow... I am proud of you... but me knowing that an ST has a lot of potential to make a mid 14 sec quarter mile with just intake, header, exhaust, tune and maybe cams... I don't consider that fuggin slow...

I know it's not the fastest car in the world but I do know that it's one of the faster 4 bangers out there.
