I've been running since I think 00 or 01 when I was approached buy two guys at Speedz Indoor Karting in Columbus, OH. They ran over after I completed a 360 ebrake rally run through the parking lot with the track manager to settle a discussion about how good a Focus handles compared to his Grand Am. They were cracking up and said if you like to drive like that you should come out with OVR and run some autocross. Been hooked ever since.
Started with STS then went to the wrong class of DSP for a while then went to SM with a WOT activated electric ram air...which does work especially for autox although mine was the crappy squirrel fan design and a year into the experiment it finally blew itself apart. I have settled into FSP pretty well although I did not really want to put my back seat back in but did to satisfy the rules. I have definitely learned a lot over the years doing this and have been laying down some pretty good times. I even took #1 in PAX today and 4th in RAW. It's been fun to actually be in the top 10-15 for a change after all these always learning years. I missed the local Championship for FSP last year by missing a few events and running one so bad I felt like I forgot how to drive and of course the technicality of not paying my dues in time for points to count. I did however win our local DSP championship the previous year by an all or nothing challenge at the end of the years event initiated by my DSP Subaru Impressa friends. We were battling back and fourth sooo close in times it really made for a lot of competitive fun. So far I am leading in FSP this year although when the Subie is there it can be really tough to keep up. He is a really good driver and has that AWD and LSD advantage not to mention the 13 x 8 wheels compared to my 15 x 7. I like the challenge though...makes me faster. I was actually able to beat him and win the FSP class on our huge new lot we just got to run on. I also manage to cord 3 of my 4 tires. So I made it to the finals for prize money but this round he disconnected his front bar and dialed in a killer run. So we ended up one and one for our special 4th of July event. I'm looking to get some 13 x 8 or 9s to try out although with my 406 final gears autox will be a mandatory third gear thing. If I actually would get new race rubber instead of track day scrubs I might even keep the car from getting so tail happy at times. Drifting is not usually the fast way in autox but a little rotation can be helpful. My aggressive driving style is to push the car over the limit and take note and then dial it back. So with this approach coupled with my budget race rubber I have had bouts with massive oversteer initiated by a little Scandinavian flick and late braking...I only use an ebrake to park. lol The fun part is saving and controlling the "FWDrift" and at least finishing the run with no cones hit and staying on course. It's slower but I do usually find that fine line of the limit by the last couple runs. If you wanted to compare times to competition to mods or whatever you can look up our results at http://www.axtime.com/view I'm FSP 48 in ASCC and NORA and prior years was SM 48 and DSP 48 Our club is www.noraracing.net and www.autox.net

I have been auto-xing since 2001 in Trinidad (caribbean).
In 6 years, I have won the class 4 times and national champion once in 2004. I have now moved to Georgia and run in the Atlanta region events. Currently ran in Novice for my 1st event, but will move over to STS. Here is a vid of my last event his past weekend. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F59AfKv-DBQ Kirk |

Car: 2000 ZX3
Mods: Aerocharged and much more Class: XP (damn lack of factory crash bar) Region: Running in local MAC (Minnesota Autosports Club) in the Twin City's area. So uncompetitive classing wise its not even funny. Fastest times of the day are coming form the XP winner, and in the street tire index the winner is PAXing better than the guy with the fastest RAW time. :( |

Cool stuff!
looks like more of a road race event vs. an AX... Did they open up the infield at Pocono? I didn't realize they did that....

I will post the event up next year( 2008) as it is now open to anyone who pays as well as PSCC members. Yes they open the infield and run turn 4 to 3 infield and back to the Nascar turns. It was the experience of a lifetime and i will attend next year! It would be great to have a few FF,FJ members there.
