Well mine is back. So much easier to shift. Though I have been very slow with it too. Nothing over 2500 rpm. But the clutch pedal and shifter are just so effortless to move. Going into first from a stop is not a problem anymore.

Hey, even better -- I found the text of the TSB as posted on FJ by pzev04boy:

My 04 zts got it's first clutch replacement at 11,000 miles and was traded in needing it's second clutch replacement.(thank god they never noticed where I traded it in)HA HA HA!!!

But anyway. The thing about clutches is that they are only covered for the first 12,000 miles of a new vehicle warranty and that is it!!!

But ford finally did all but admit they messed up bad when they released this tsb. So if your clutch slips up till 36,000 miles now you get a free clutch.

If you suspect any of the following problems listed in the tsb below then go to the dealer and get your free upgraded clutch. Provided you are still under the factory warranty you should be fine.

You should be able to get some tire spin going into third gear and if you can't then your clutch is not holding right.

Here is the tsb.

** TSB 05-25-6 ** MTX-75 PREMATURE CLUTCH FAILURE **

Publication Date: December 2, 2005

FORD: 2003-2006 Focus

ISSUE:
Some 2003-2004 Focus vehicles equipped with a 2.3L PZEV engine and MTX-75 manual transaxle, and 2005-2006 Focus vehicles equipped with MTX-75 manual transaxle, may exhibit poor clutch pedal return or premature clutch disc wear or failure. This may be caused by clutch disc delamination, breakage, or failure.

ACTION:
Inspect and repair clutch system as necessary. Refer to the following Service Procedure.

NOTE: PLACING THE TRANSMISSION IN FIRST GEAR WITH THE CLUTCH DISENGAGED (CLUTCH PEDAL PRESSED) AT VEHICLE SPEEDS GREATER THAN 15 MPH (24 KM/H) MAY CAUSE CLUTCH DISC DELAMINATION OR BREAKAGE (CLUTCH DOES NOT HAVE TO BE ENGAGED FOR DAMAGE TO OCCUR).

NOTE: VERIFY THAT THERE ARE NO SIGNS OF VEHICLE ABUSE FOR EXAMPLE UNUSUAL TIRE WEAR AND/OR VEHICLE MODIFICATIONS. CLUTCH SYSTEM WEAR OR FAILURE CAUSED BY VEHICLE ABUSE IS NOT A WARRANTABLE REPAIR. REFER TO THE WARRANTY AND POLICY MANUAL FOR DETAILS.

SERVICE PROCEDURE
Inspect clutch pedal return spring for proper function. Service only as necessary.
Inspect clutch master cylinder for proper function or leaks. Service only as necessary. Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 308-00 for diagnostic information and 308-02 for service information. If clutch system is still not operating correctly proceed to Step 3.
Remove transaxle. Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 308-03.
Inspect clutch slave cylinder/release bearing for proper function or leaks. Service only as necessary. Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 308-00 for diagnostic information and 308-02 for service information.
Inspect flywheel, transaxle, and transaxle input shaft for damage. Service only as necessary. Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 308-00.
Inspect clutch disc and pressure plate for wear or damage. If wear or damage is present replace the clutch disc and pressure plate. Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 308-01.
NOTE: THE CLUTCH DISC AND PRESSURE PLATE MUST BOTH BE REPLACED IF EITHER PART IS WORN OR DAMAGED AS THE NEW PARTS ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH ORIGINAL CLUTCH DISC OR PRESSURE PLATE IN THE VEHICLE. DO NOT GREASE THE TRANSAXLE INPUT SHAFT SPLINES UPON REINSTALLATION OF THE CLUTCH DISC, PRESSURE PLATE OR TRANSAXLE. GREASING THE TRANSAXLE INPUT SHAFT SPLINES MAY RESULT IN CLUTCH COMPONENT DAMAGE.

Install transaxle. Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 308-03.

CORRECTION / CLARIFICATION: People have had them replaced for free after 12,000 miles, but you will notice the actual text of the TSB doesn't say 36,000 mile warranty on the clutch. And the clutch must fail due to a bad part problem (delamination, bad master cylinder). If you've just worn out your clutch you could very well be on your own. While this is a YMMV kind of deal it is very well worth looking into before paying to have your clutch replaced.

well Ford wont warrenty it. I called the manager at the dealer AND Ford Canada. nothing. They say my master cylinder going bad and my clutch being fried is not related and that there is no TSB covering this. WTF?!?!? Shure I beat on the car. but I also drove it for weeks with a bad cylinder and I know the clutch was acting up during this time. Bastards!

um how can they say the master cylinder and the clutch are not related??? they use the same fluid!

umm even better. it was my clutch master cylinder not my brakes! What the dealer told me is they brought in engineers above their level to come and look at it and whatnot. now its in the system that it WILL NOT BE WARRENTIED so if I go to another dealer they will see that right away.
