well, i picked up the car from this dude that just broke up with his girl and blew the stock motor. He replaced it with the same stock motor (d16y7) with only 30,000 miles on it. My original intent was to buy a shell and just throw a b18c1 in it and start from there, but this was too good of a deal to pass up. He let it go for very very very cheap considering what he had already put into it. I did the mini-me swap along with changing out the intake mani and swapping in an EX tranny (geared ALOT better than the DX tranny). With just the mini-me swap it brought me down to about 15.8 and swapping in the EX tranny dropped it another 7/10th of a sec. I also use a 50 shot when I'm at the track (ONLY at the track). I'm ordering the b18c1 change-over at the end summer and thats going to be the real project. That sucker isnt going into my hatch until its pretty built up. Why not? Mine as well get the miles outta the d-block before chucking it.

P.S. - It should be intersting when she gets used to the Foci and we can take it to the track. I expect to pull her pretty good her first few runs, but when she gets used to it on the track it should be pretty interesting. Definately gonna be a drivers race if I stay all-motor.

Dude, b18, WTF. Get the h22a, definetly more better. Just helped swap one into a 93 coupe and its eats b18's up.

no thanks. Trust me, I've researched both plenty. I live in Florida, I like my AC. The stock internals of an H22 are pretty delicate. More aftermarket parts are available for the B18c and it's a VERY well made engine. The only advantage it really has is the torque. And most people that swap in h22's turbo it. Im not a fan of turbos, I like all-motor. The GS-R (if built properly) can lay down low 13's/high 12's all-day long, all-motor.

honda owners are starting to do frankensteins (b20/vtec) and ls/vtec over buying an h22 to get the added torque. My friend owns a turbo'd h22 and is trying to sell it now because he's tired of putting in so much wrench time. Hell, some h22 owners I've talked to wished they bought a b-series motor.

What?? I wouldn't turbo h22, the internals are alright as long as you don't boost, and its easier to go 12's with all motor h22 than b18. Also you can keep ac with h22. Just with the swap alone with no bolt ons you can turn a very low 14.

true... but I've seen very impressive numbers come out of a b18c built-up. Dont know about the AC though, I know it is possible to keep it, but it requires relocating it.

I hear what ur sayin though dude. I was torn between a few options. I was either gonna go H22, turbo'd D, or b18c build-up. Been balancing the pro's and con's of all three for a while now.
