A bit curious...(racing question)

I just recently purchased a 2006 zx3 5-speed with the 2.0 duratec motor in it. Well I'm curious as to how it possibly would stack up to a 2004 celica gt automatic. The I know a Gt-s would walk all over me but the gt is only rated at 140 hp vs the duratecs 136. Since its a girl and shes driving an auto I know I'd win but vs a decent driver and a 5-speed how would my zx-3 stack up? The car still only has 330 miles on it so I'm trying to take it easy on the motor for a bit longer to allow it to have ample break in time. But so far i'm impressed with the duratecs performance. Any feed back would be greatly appreciated. -Larry (oh I should mention that I have an amazing warrenty package on this car and considering that the ONLY things not covered under it are the brakes and clutch I'd be going balls out vs the celica gt)

I beat a gt auto in my zetec zx3 with just a intake and exhaust. Against a 5 speed and assuming the drivers are evenly matched, I think the celica will win. It's got a few more ponies, and they weigh a little bit less.

btw, don't think that just because you'd be racing a girl that you'd win. lisa kubo would kick your arse for that. lol

I bet youll win. I have a zx3 manaul with the duratec, and i've beat them a couple time. i do have a few mods, but not that many. I am a pretty good driver though also, so that might factor in a little.

If you race her, just make sure you dont miss a shift and make yourself look like an ass

And i'm not going to nag at you, but if you can, pay the 15 or 20 bucks and go to a drag strip to race. so much safer, and you dont have to worry about cops!

sounds like a drivers race to me, i don't think a few extra ponies would matter. a good launch will help you a bit. just my .02 cents worth

Thanks for the advice. I'll see if she wants to the drag strip, should be fun. I have respect for the racing women as well, I thaught my ex to drive on a 5-speed and she bought a 5-speed 92 turbo eclipse and has kicked many a guys ass in that thing.

you can take both the gts and the gt the gts is heavy do to the body it that massive spoiler and everythign else!

Celicas may have more HP, but when do they hit there most HP..............anyone....................anyone...........damn near red line. And to think about torque and when that kicks in if ever. I drove a Toyota Corrolla S with the same 140HP motor in a Celica and that thing had no acceleration until redline then the autocrapic shifted and quess what no power again untill redline.

Horsepower 140 @ 7600 RPM
Torque 125 @ 6800 RPM

You have her hands down from a dig. From a roll you'd have her as long as you don't mis-shift. And with an Auto Tradgic, she'd be maybe around 100HP to the wheels and even Less Torque.
