MVent - As for the necessity of a hood liner, I'll say this - having no barier may never be an issue, but if it is detrimental, paint damage from heat won't happen right away - it takes time, and, once it happens, it means re-painting - you can't just wax it out..... So, if you won't have it for a very long time or you happen to be a painter, maybe the risk of heat damage is no big deal. You being in OK, I'm sure you have seen other SW cars with shot paint from sun damage, etc. Well, my opinion is that increasing the amount of engine heat getting to the underside of the hood, in addition to pretty good solar effects will just accelerate the process of f-ing the hood paint. I went the conservative route and I guess I might sleep better for it

well, my bad then... I just recall seeing some svt's up here in cnd without them...

I do recall the regular foci not having them after 2001 or 2002.. as per a thread I read here once from owners when the cars were catching fire
