Hey man - keep an eye here - I just ripped out the original fire-starter and installed a Dynamat HoodLiner - I'll get a pic or two up in the next day or two. It looks pretty good but it is a serious pain to work with - doesn't cut so easily for curves or detail work. Anyway, do keep an eye here and I'll post pics for sure.

I should mention that the ST170's don't seem to have the liner either

Mine looks like it already caught on fire, it's ripped to shreds in several places, large spots too. Wonder if it's just the engine heat or what....

The pics I promised,
![]() ![]() In this one, notice the slight "glow" over the cowl and back part of the engine bay - my garage faces west and when the sun sets, the hoodliner creates a nice reflective glow over the engine. It's kind of cool actually. ![]() It is difficult stuff to work with, but if you are careful and take time, it comes out great. It only needs to stick to the raised, reinforcements, not the hood sheet metal itself. I don't like the asymmetry I ended up with just behind the head light areas, but it's subtle and will do ok. My main recommendation - do not peel the backing back all at once - you MUST go bit by bit b/c the adhesive will readily stick to itself and it is nearly permanent. Anyway, there it is for ya - just another option. An easy Ebay Item to find too. Later! Last edited by onebluemcm; 04-16-2006 at 07:19 PM. |

Great pic.s . It looks good. How much does it cost?
I removed mine on Sat and it sure looks better, the old one was nasty with oil. Your SVT looks like mine. I really like your wheels which are different. Are those the wheels that come on the Euro package? NCFazer |

Yeah, they are the Euro pkg wheels - she's loaded.
The hoodliner was only $30, put I kinda got screwed on shipping - cost me ~$50 total.... But for, worth it for the look and the protection of the hood paint. I know lots of people say there is no problem with heat damage, but I just didn't want to risk it and it's easy to just pull down the old liner - thought I'd go the extra mile and keep a liner in it. |

So the heat from the engine wouldn't be a problem for the paint?
My insulation is starting to come undone along the front and I've contemplated just taking it off.
