you need to go to some 'test and tune' nights at the track, figure out what is the best time you can consistantly run. That's where to start with your dial-in.
The SVTf is hard to run consistant on crappy street tires. If you plan on bracket racing a lot, first mod I'd get is a pair of light front wheels and some drag radials.

somthing i found that helps, and i dont think alot of people actually think about it, but get you a shift knob that is very comfortable to you, and that you can really rip from first to 2nd with, i ended up getting a cheap autozone one for 14.99 it was made out of leather and i wasnt to found of it at first but its all they had (i needed it cuz i broke mine) and man let me tell you how much cleaner and quicker my 1st to 2nd shift is, im alot more consistant with it now. just a little tip for ya, good luck, and keep practicing.
all i have is k&n filter and straight pipe exhaust hooked to an apexi n1 muffler on a horrible, horrible, and i mean horrible clutch lol (slipping so bad people were laughing at me) on crappy stock worn tires with full audio system still in and ran a best of 15.8 at 89 mph im pretty sure if i had a good clutch and good tires like i have now, i could run about a 15.3 or 15.4 maybe, and i had to launch like was i leaving a lite or it would just slip the whole way, good luck man keep on keepin on |

Practice makes perfect. Everyone figures out their own methods, so you just need to find yours and you'll do great.

Yeah, you need alot of work as a stock zx3 could alot better times than that.
I would "drop" the clutch around 2-3grand. I have a zx3 with the bolt-ons and a tune and anything above 3grand is asking for a 2.6 60'. I usually launch around 2500rpm and still get some spin/hop but manage a 2.3 60'. Its almost all in the launch and making sure you don't miss the gear. Once you get the launch down, start working on your shifting and watch your times improve. My best time for comparison 00 zx3 with i/h/flex/e/udp/ sct tune. 2.277 60' 9.9 @ 73mph 1/8 15.5000 @ 89mph 1/4 My car defs has low 15's in her, just took my time shifting because the previous run I missed 2nd and 4th gear. 15.5 is possible for the car, but not with you driving it until you practice more. Like I said, I wouldn't launch it that high.

You altitude also has alot to do with your times! THe higher you are, the less oxygen there is compared to sea level. One of the easiest things to help combat this is get am intake, sucks more air faster. that will help aswell.
I agree with getting to the test and tunes and practicing. Let out a few pounds of air out of the front tires to get better traction, just some, not a whole lot. Dont launch so high unless you have drag radials or something like that. I launch at 2500 rpm and I spin like crazy. Practice shifting too. When you do shift at the track, try some form of power shifting. Thats how I got some of my best times. Good luck and happy racing.
