Exhaust??? to buy or not to buy....

well alrighty.....
my car is currently in the shop for some major repairs so i wont be buying anything soon......

but hopefully by mid-summer i'll have a little extra cash askign to be spent....

i have a CAI (no shorty under my hood!) anywho i was looking into getting something from flowmaster.....

i was thinking maybe just the performance 40 series muffler to start......

but if i get a header should i replace the whole system header-back???

please give me an idea of what would be good and in which order to buy it.......

also try to describe the tone of your aftermarket setup if you have one the last thing i want is a ricey whine.... i like the rumble my CAI gives. its nothing much but its got a nice deep tone........

all help is appreciated

CATIA is a dirty tramp, until you figure out its sweet spots, and how to make it moan. Then its easy as apple pie on a fall afternoon.

CLICK HERE for a good thread on some exhaust setups and sound clips. After you browse that thread, I think that you can get a good idea of what you want. A nice intake and exhaust system is a good way to start off modding a car.

I have a FC Race Header, 2.5" Flex, 2.5" TruBendz exhaust /w Borla Muffler (as well as many other goodies) and I really enjoy the sound and power that it 'added'. Though if you decide to go with a TruBendz system and do a lot of highway travel, I would recommend that you also buy a resonator for the exhaust. From my experience at certain RPMs the exhaust note can be quite taxing on the ears and I plan on getting a resonator soon for it. It'll still have a nice tone afterwards, but it won't be as loud which is what I want.

Cheers!

if you go with flowmaster, imo itll sound like crap, and if you add a header to that setup, itll sound like double crap, flowmasters do not sound very good on our cars, only v8s really. If you want a nice deep tone, go with something from borla. If you planning on getting a header get a svt borla b/c it has an extra resonator on it, but even if not alot of people choose it b/c it gives the exhaust the perfect volume. Focussport is pretty deep too....but borla is definitly the way to go.

Borla is the way to go but if you want something that's cheap go with a MBRP. I personally don't like the sound of it but a lot of people on here have it and are happy with it.

How do you figure that?? ( 2 1/4" ) 199 + 40 to 50 to ship, they don't get much cheaper than that for a cat bck.

2 1/2 "= 230.00+ sh still more than reasonable for stainless steele !
