i notice alot of people saying that we should move to europe if we want a euro focus, but thats not what people are complaining about, they are complaining that Ford is not supply the same edgy styling to its US market focus that it does for the euro. in 05 they did a face lift to change it up a bit and did some interior changing, but now for 07 only two years later they are doing another minor face lift, just so they could shove the three bar grill onto it....which i think is a stupid move, if you want to sell more foci put all new sheet metal and do a nice remodling, even if you dont change the chassis do a full decent remodeling and add some options more power etc. Yea the MKII is nice but i wouldnt care if it didnt come as long as Ford US made our focus just as good, or at least slighty better then the one we have now. Were complaining b/c ford is being lazy with the focus and not really putting that much effort into it

You are talking about a whole different car! They can't just "bring it" here, they would have to retool their Wayne, MI plant to build it. You are talking about a serious investment for a car they don't make a profit on anyway! It doesn't cost much to make a few cosmetic changes, but to build a whole new car....

The reason they CAN sell the car in Europe is that Europeans are willing to pay more for a compact car than Americans are. Ford often sells their compacts at a loss so they can profit from their gas-guzzlers. I don't know this to be the case with the focus, but that is what happened with the escort. they lost $400 on each one they sold, but they made $5000 on every pickup.

So ya see, it doesn't really pay for them to build a redesigned focus for the American market. Let's say they did import a few of the hi-perf. foci to the US market and sold it at a price that netted them a small profit. A lot of people would be crying about how it cost more than a WRX or a mustang.

I don't think we'll see a focus with 200hp anytime soon. Look at the price of a loaded ST, liberally around $17k. 150hp, wow. Mazdaspeed 3, 240hp, probably for around $22k. I don't know about you, but I can step into an audi or bmw for $25k; hell, I can get a used Porsche for $30k...

But, back on topic, I'm pretty complacement when it comes to car designs, especially one that's just a test-bed. You won't be making your decision to buy the car on just this one picture floating around. You'll be sitting and driving in it before you do. There's more to a car than its looks.

It has been years and years and years of ford "not getting it" thats why even ford owners hate them. Toyota and honda dont have a problem giving the people what they want. Ford has no excuse other than the fact they dont seem to really care what goes out on the roads.

changing the front end just means one things for sure the aftermarket is not going to be in any hurry to make any new parts for the 05-06 or that new "thing" they're going to try to pass off as a focus!

Patience is the key to Ford.
The focus was the first Ford I owned. I am sorry. but you will just have to wait and see what they are gonna do.
It doesn't make any sense to get heated before you even see what they will do. For all we know at this point, they could have been testing anything in that mule.
Keep in mind, that is just what it is. Suspension, brakes, engine, exhaust, drivability, handling, general feel for the car...................................
that is probably all they were testing; or any number of different things. WE just don't know enouph at this point, to get worried.

ARGH

You just don't get it! Ford makes the best fullsize pickup truck out there- no question- so it isn't that they don't care. The F-150 is the best-selling vehicle in the US- they are trying to hold on to that market. You say they don't care what people want? That's BS and you know it. The fact is that between the safety standards, EPA requirements, union demands, and crowded marketplace it is impossible to compete with the Japanese companies and make a profit on compact cars. Yes, they do build some cars here, but their factories are largely non-union.
