6-SPD AWD in your FOCUS!?

I recently heard something that tweeked my attention. I was told by a reliable source (ford mechanic) that the Volvo S40 6-spd AWD transmission "should" bolt up to the focus motor [if you didnt know Ford owns Volvo...therefore making it highly likely.] So that would potentialy make a focus AWD, using "domestic" parts, keeping the programing to a small head ache. If anyone has heard of or could find out about this please let me know.....Because i would most deffinatly do it and let you know how the ish works out.

I want my SVTF to do that

I would see it bolting to the 2.3 Duratec motor before bolting to the 2.0

The Ford Escape is the closer relative.

repost. this has been gone over a bunch of times, some people talk big and say that they can do it, then are never heard from again.

although, if everybody from ff gives me a dollar, i'd be down for trying it.

A lot...

...thats why no one has done it.

You can be close to AWD with the right suspension set up. My car handles like AWD, perfectly balanced. I just cant spin all 4 in the snow. Big whoop.

I would say atleast at a min. of 20k USD.. You have to buy parts and in labour, tuning, fab work and other little things and that should be a fair amount... If its not at least 245whp to all wheels then it wouldn't be worth it..

As for the escape... if you're still essentially FWD. Now, what I have gathered is the jag xtype will do the AWD a lot better. All you need is a wrecked std xtype (5-8g, i assume) and a lot of custom fab skills and you would be able to pull it off for a reasonable price. But you're looking at swapping in the mtx75 and losing your 6spd at this point i believe.

I am looking for either some 5spoke SVT wheels or RS wheels at a good price, send me a PM (preferably with existing tires.. preferably with existing tred heheheh) or maybe even some of the euro 15 (is it 15?) spoke wheels, black.
