Varies from club to club, but generally, no. Generally, you can be under 18, as long as you have a valid driver's license, and a parent to sign a waiver

where in Michigan do they do AutoXing? I want to try it out some more. And I need to work on my downshifting before corners technique.

Here's a link to a map that will show you known autocross clubs across the US, including Michigan.

My son also races shifter karts and would probably disagree with your assumption that autocross is more fun than karts. However, it is still a blast

You don't have to be 18 you just need a waiver signed by a parent

And do as the signature says. Don't wait for anything, be it technique or equipment. You'll just be robbing yourself of experience and a good time.
