how many miles do you have on your car. Some people dont really think its worth it, and it might be better just to go out and find a mtx focus.

You need a NEW!! Flywheel to replace the flex-plate you have now.. A clutch, a pressure plate. a bearing set.. You need pedals, the hole in the firewall has to be knocked out. You need a Slave Cylinder to piggyback the brake master cylinder since the clutch is hydraulic. You may need a vacuum booster from the MTX. You need a different ECU and PCM.. Since the focus uses a PCM for the trans on both cars, You may need to take the bulb out of the stupid shift light..

To tell ya the truth I have an ATX 01 focus ZTS... It's not worth the trouble. there are 5 tranny shops in my neighborhood. The prices ranger from $3000 if I got the parts to $7000 if I just brought the car in and had them do it all!!!

Your better off trading your car in on a standard.. TRUST ME!!

i thought about that but the problem is that i cant trade off the car becaust its got a salvage title bu if i could find a svt or a 4 door 5 speed for the right price then it might be worth looking into but i really dont need another car and i like the way mine is its kind of a sentimental thing i think

take everything I just said plus add an engine.... you still need the ECU / PCM from the engine.. It's easier if your swaping the same thing.. But then again if its got sentimental value you may not see it as hard...

A lot of people who try this run into trouble after they get everything installed, because you have to go to a dealer and get your keys reprogrammed to match the PATS system on the new ECU and many dealers flatly refuse to do the programming for a wide range of reasons. Like everyone's saying...much easier to trade your car in and buy one with a MTX. Barring that, I'd look for a junked Focus with a MTX that has keys, the ECU and the manual transmission...pull the transmission and related parts, ECU and ignition cylinder with keys and transplant them into your Focus...that would skip having to find a dealership that would reprogram the PATS.

As far as putting the pedals in, it wouldn't be that hard. You'd just need the brake/clutch pedals and the bracket they're attached to (plus all of the wiring and switches attached to the bracket,) you'd need to drill three holes for the clutch master cylinder to pass through...its mostly inside the cabin, there's two hydraulic lines running in and out plus a bolt hole in the middle...actually, the pedals would be the easiest part of the job in comparison with the rest.

This would be a lot of work if you've never dropped a transmission before or don't have much experience as a mechanic, its not something that could be accomplished over the weekend (at least not by someone without experience/training) and you'd stand a pretty good chance of screwing your car up to the point where you couldn't fix it. Remember, its always cheaper to pay someone to do the job right the first time than it is to pay them to fix all of your mistakes after you've tried and failed.

O.M.G "Frogman283" I forgot about that!!

When I went to the ford Dealership in my town to ask them if they could do the work on my car.. (I know, I know.. BIG BIG $$$$$$$ if they actualy would do it..) But I figured hey who better to do it right??? Anyway they told me that there system wouldn't allow the new keys to be programmed or something along those lines.. SO you WILL run in to problems with that.. And trust me... The P.A.T.S is NOT something you can bypass... If it was it would be a waist of time.. That thing runs through so many systems...

Your only hope would be to get [2] Keys at least from the DONATE car so you would be able to make new keys if need be.. As I understand it even if you pull the PCM / ECU the code for the keys will remain.. So if you had the keys for the motor you would be fine.. But you would then obviously have to change the ignition and door locks.. But if your that hard off on keeping the car I guess it would be a small price to pay.. That would be the least of your work..
