Tranny and axles

Hi, I have a 2000 LX with manual spi.. I tried to buy a drivers side axle for it and they ask me if it is an IB5 or an MTX manual transmission. I am not sure, but i think it is IB5, how can I tell? Also, is there any where to buy heavy duty axles for these things.. I have a heavy foot, and enjoy frying tire, so heavier axles will be a good investment for me. Thanks. Tyler

Damn Spider...and I so enjoy ruining peoples' lunches...

Yeah, he's right.

SPI (SOHC) = iB5
ZETEC (DOHC) = MTX-75

As far as heavy-duty axles, I haven't seen much. But then again, you shouldn't need them that much. I do my share of burnouts and the axles have outlived my clutch.

As for heavy axles you dont need them. I have a lead foot just like you. I burn through a 60,000 mile warrenty tire in 15,000 miles, talk about burn through. You would think i was talkin about a soft tread like nitto, but no i burn through a Bridgestone RE910 like it was nothing.

As far as your axles, Tom has a 500hp focus on the stock alxes so you stock ones will do just fine unless you go get custom ones made. Just go do a search from yahoo or something and i bet you wont find any out there unless they are the stock ones.
