knock sensor

i would like to say hello. i just purchased a used focus zx3 zetec with a manual. it has 58k on the clock. however sadly after the warranty ran up i had a few issues. so i plugged in a scan tool and found out that my knock sensor is at 5v at idle. that is just astronomically high. its so high that i believe its working backwards. when i blip the throttle at idle the voltage goes off the charts. furthermore, it seems to be advancing the timing instead of retarding it. anyone else run into this problem?? please help if you know anything. oh yea the knock sensor reads 1023 volts KOEO.

The knock sensor it located on the rear(closest to firewall) of the engine.
About the middle of the engine and I believe it's the one with the yellow and white wires.
It's about 9 o'clock from the oil filter looking at it from the back of the engine.

5V seems really high....and 75V is insane (i think....). Are you sure it was reading volts not mV? How does the car drive? Does it feel like the timing is off (sluggish)?
