I think Ford also markets the Focus as an econobox here, while it's a mid-level product in Europe. Not having bonus features like cabin air filter, trip computers, sat-nav etc help separate the North American focus from their Fusion and other car products.

I agree - I'd pay $10 for it.

I'll have to check to see if my ST has one if not i'm getting one to put in this weekend...

I have a dark interior so keeping dust out is a MUST for me and worth what ever hassle it may be

I noticed that after I changed my cabin filter, from there on I would get leaks on rainy days or on car washes. I knew it had something to do with that cowl panel and noticed I cracked a bit where the water is supposed to run off. I went to ford and told me they have to replace both cowl panels and seal it wich came up close to $300. I'm just going to fix the small crack and make sure I get a good seal. For sure not more than $20.

I had one put in, cus there was none in there in the first place. I don't know that of all LX models are like that. Just knew that there were excess debris without it. and that egg crate thing was useless if you get the filter from napa....... it just useless in the first place. What they got lasy to put one in there, oh boo hoo "they don't pay me to put one in there"

Cool

I took a look and ...yep got one also without the filter. Bought a filter for that and here's the funny part, although the cabin filter is from Ford and for my model (ZX5) it didn't fit. Had to squeez the damn thing in and that egg crate of a thing doesn't fit anymore either. Talk about some cheap stuff. I managed to get all back in the right place and here's a tip. Buy some kind of air refreshener of your liking, cut it up in slices and slide them in between the filter lines and your car smells great the whole time (as far as it lasts, and then replace the scent). And thnx to all for letting me know that such a cabine filter existed 'cause even my Ford dealer had no clue lol lol

Two goods things to insist on when buying a used Focus from a dealer. Have them install

1) New cabin filter
2) New fuel filter

I believe newer cars actually have the area sealed up by default. It's there...filters fit....but it seems they are taking minor steps to discourage their installation.
