Perfect tires for AutoX and Drag racing

hi all,


i did a search and i found out that falken 215's or 615's are good.

i want to use stock 16X6 ST rims for autoX and drag strip. i know it uses the 205/50/16. now what size can i use. i have springs the TEIN springs and i dont know if i should get the 205/55/16. with those i think my car will hit the fender. or would it hit?


please give me some sugestions of some good summer tires for drag/AutoX tires that can fit my 16X6 rims.

I know it's not what you want to hear but you really need to get a set of drag radials if you want to do well at the drag strip. Any tire good for autox will suck at the drag strip. I use to have some Hoosier autox slicks that I thought I could autox and drag race with. They were worse than some street tires at the drag strip. The side walls are too stiff and the rubber is much harder than a drag radial or a drag slick.

good info, but im looking for some tires that are not drag radials, i know they will make a huge diff in drag, but im looking foward to find some tires that can help for both.

i also dont want to get slicks cause it would put me in a diff category @ the autoX.

I've read that the 615's are better. The 215's become "greasy" when it's too hot (or was it cold) out. I dunno... the 615's are supposed to be better. I do like how the 215's look though.

I'm gonna need some new tires after this summer and am debating on Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's, Kumho Ecsta MX's, or Falken Azenis RT-615's. It'll probably come down to how much I feel like spending and how long they'll last, but almost any summer tire will be better than what I have now.

I'm sure slicks would be better at drag racing, but I'd like to think that the Falken's (or just about any summer-only tire) would be better than an all-season tire that came stock.

ya i agree with u but they dont have the 615's in 205/50/16, they have them with the 55 profile, which i think the wont fit

I had a set of the Goodyear GSD3's and loved them. They are a perfect street tire for summer usage. I'd actually call thema touring tire cause the sidewalls are a wee bit softer than most other summer only tires so they have a muhc more civil ride. But because fo the softer side walls they don't work really well for autoX unless it is raining, thats when they shine. Wet traction is amazing, I've ever had such confidence on a tire before in my life when wet.

So for a AutoX only tire I wouldn't recommend the GSD3 simply cause of the softer sidewalls.

ok so after looking for a while i end up having 2 favorite ones


1st. i have the BFGoodrich g-Force Sport and my second choise are the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2

i think im gonna get the Sport's cause they are like half the price as the KDW 2's, and they are almost as good as the KDW 2's

any opinions on this??

bump, any one else thinks that the G-force sport's are good tires for autoX and drag racing?

I'm actually fairly sure Ataru is using G-force sports, he said they were awesome street tires for the money, but not terribly good autoX. You might want to message him.

I have the BFG G-force sports and I used them when I auto-x'd. They stuck really well when I did it in the summer but when the course was cold I was sliding all over the place.
