Borla Exhaust: Pulling the Trigger in WA State

So WA state has some law on the books regarding exhausts:

RCW 46.37.390
Quote:
(3) No person shall modify the exhaust system of a motor vehicle in a manner which will amplify or increase the noise emitted by the engine of such vehicle above that emitted by the muffler originally installed on the vehicle, and it shall be unlawful for any person to operate a motor vehicle not equipped as required by this subsection, or which has been amplified as prohibited by this subsection so that the vehicle's exhaust noise exceeds ninety-five decibels as measured by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) test procedure J1169 (May, 1998). It is not a violation of this subsection unless proven by proper authorities that the exhaust system modification results in noise amplification in excess of ninety-five decibels under the prescribed SAE test standard. A court may dismiss an infraction notice for a violation of this subsection if there is reasonable grounds to believe that the vehicle was not operated in violation of this subsection.
Now I know a bunch of people on here live in WA... have the cops ever hassled you about your exhaust?

I mean, I don't drive all out in front of the police, but I understand that the Borla is loudest around 1500-1900 RPM, that's close to normal cruising...

For $307 plus shipping, I am about >< that close to ordering. ARGH.

not a problem, now these could be slightly off considering that you have a 2.0 Duratec and these were done on a 2.0 Zetec, but i'd imagine not that much.

i did a decibel test on mine an it came to pretty close to the borla about 1/2db out +/-

some exhaust sytems that are stock are louder than some aftermarket set ups .

as for the 2.0L duratec lol even if you did a fly by at 110 mph you really wouldnt hear anything except all motor.

waht they mean by that bylaw is you cant just slap a 5-9" grapefruit launcher on an call it preformance upgrade
(we all know the ones im talking about 16-17yrs old in a lil puddle jumper with a cannon duct taped to the stock pipe)
