My SVT Service History... ARG!!!

Okay, Just for kicks I decided to take a look at my car's service history since Im now @ 32k miles AND my car is at Ford for the FOURTH clutch on the TSB. Needless to say Im very frustrated with this car and will be getting rid of it before it hits 36k miles. I thought I'd post this up here to see if anyone else has had this kind of trouble, if it was worse or better than my experience... I guess I'm trying to gauge if SVTF's are plagued with this type of trouble or if it is just a one of type of scenario.

Now I'm sure some of you are thinking this is from abuse. Honestly if I had abused the car I would expect these types of issues, but I haven't. I drive the car to and from work each day in a mild fashion with the occasional run to redline through 3rd / 100+ MPH run on private roads. This type of drivetrain issues should not be occuring especially since I am no where near the stock clutch's peak TQ rating.

And none of this includes the current work as it is not yet posted in my history. And now, 11,000 miles and less than a year later it's time for Clutch number 4, the Third dealership and the last time I will be frustrated because I'm getting rid of the damn thing.

Has anyone else had this kind of trouble with their SVTF? I am very dissapointed in Ford for this, any vehicle that wears the SVT appointments is supposed to be considered a flagship model and to me this car falls well short of what I would expect a flagship vehicle to be.

There is a spacific procedure for this, im wondering if they are doing it correctly. There were some with trans issues. If you will send me your email, ill send you the tsb in full.

Sounds like poor install. i think most people were set with the new update clutch. I was. I also had the dealer look at my clutch, while they were putting the new engine in (at 41,000 miles) and they said it looked great.

the free scheduled maint. is factored into his loan. in actuality, you pay finance charges on your oil changes. glad to hear that got your clutch thing figured out. im glad i have a dealerhsip that kinda knows what they are doing. feel sorry for you thought! i want my tranny replaced! how do i do that?

Don't be so quick to condemn.
IIRC, the updated clutch and flywheel are based off the 2.3 Duratec parts...

are they also replacing the throw out bearing? if not that might be why you keep leaking fluid on the clutch

BUT you haven't had that bad of a time with your car! Yes your dealer seems to have an issue with slopping oil all over your brand new shiny clutch every time they replace it but that doesn't mean your car is a total heap.

DSI clip, common problem, bad design, worse fix but not the end of the world. Clutch TSB, well, they're trying, aren't they? The glass is new, I haven't heard of that one.

I think that the SVTF has the potential of being a pretty good car, once you work the bugs out of it. Mine hasn't given me any trouble since 12,000 (I'm at 21,000) and my experience with fords is that their initial quality is trash but once you've fixed everything they left undone from the factory, it'll be a pretty good car. If you had LOTS of different problems with no end in sight I'd tend to agree with your desire to unload your car. If your clutch is working and isn't all slopped up with oil, then that problem is probably fixed. If you trade it now, you'll lose $10,000 on the difference between your trade and what you paid. $3,333/year for a car is pretty steep, especially since you haven't had as much fun as you would have liked.

I'd tough it out a little more, unless you've got a rod knock or something that the dealer won't acknowledge until your'e at 36 mo.
