In three years of ownership ...

I've plunked down quite a bit on my car just on repairs. No go fast parts. Never had the time or money to mess with that stuff. Let's see

tires (had to replace all four twice) $900 ($450 each time)
brakes (front brakes first time done at dealer) $200
brakes (f&r I did myself) $60 (including tools)
oxygen sensor $40
interior door mechanicals $8 (ebay find)
interior door cable $28 (ebay kit came from a sedan, cable came from dlr)
steering rack & alignment (first time around) $500
steering rack, hoses, & alignment (2nd time around) $700
ignition lock cylinder and new key $350
clutch $400
sway bar link ends $50 (parts new from dealer)
spindle assembly $40 (ebay find includes shipping)

All tolled, I've dropped $3276 into this car just for repairs and maintenance items, not counting oil changes, repair deductables, or anything like that. Needless to say, I've been too busy and stretched thin to mod her.

I still need to get a new front right fender in black, and maybe luck my way into some upgraded bumper covers (front and rear). I'd love to get a cheap set of SVT bumpers, but know that'll probably never happen, given the feeding frenzy those parts generate.

Oddly, the fact that only $740 of that is because of things that were not the car's fault, horrifies me. I still dropped a substantial percentage of what the car cost into it in repairs.

In four months, about $5000 CAN.
Eibach Pro Lowering springs/sway bars
OZ wheels/tires
Center Console goodies (knob/boots/sts/svt ebrake)
Euro grilles/lights

I think that is enough for awhile!

Hey trucks aren't bad, I want a truck, to haul junk in. I drive a car cuz I like to drive. We add money so it'll drive better. I know that the modding addiction is lost on some folks (the "I just want a blue one with cd player types"). I know (lots of, actually) people who spend that much to make their trucks handle worse than they came from the factory. Keep it real sister, Just as long as you don't start with the "why do you need a car that goes faster than the speed limit" bollocks and we'll get along just fine.

well my grandpa won a lawsuit. He gave me about 16,000. I found a great deal on my zx3 zetec with only 33,000 miles on it. and it was in great condition. I havent had a job for 3 years. I am only 17. I bought my car for only 8,000. used the rest for insurance and shit. and the rest ( about $800) went to tints, bronze rim paint, valve stem caps, silverstar head lamps, black paint for just the dash around radio, new shifter tip, and stuff to take my emblems off, and a black front "ford" emblem, and my magnaflow I am getting this weekend. not bad for a 17 year old right? didnt have to work for much lol.
