yeah, I wanted to beat my dad's mach ONE day, but once that PROcharger went in, all hopes were lost......and when he builds up his origional block to a 5.0CAMMER, and bolts on that P-C, its WAY out of the Question. (He's at 477hp Flywheel, 420hp Wheels.) the only way to beat him would be to put a Cammer in mine......

Not neccessarily ^^^ You can make a mustang handle, it just takes money. Stock the cobras ( IRS ) are good, but they all will handle with some work.

In all seriousness, the most cost effective way to be able to smoke your friend's Mustang GT 4.6L would be to let the air out of his tires right before/rearrange his spark plug wires*, or to buy a different car. Yes, you can make a focus fast, but frankly it doesn't have the same level of cost effective options as a Mustang. It's like the Civic vs. Mustang threads that invariably always show up on various boards. To do it takes money, and makes your car a less than desireable vehicle for use as a daily driver. Maybe I'm a little off, but the focus was intended to be a sporty little fuel efficient car, not a sports car.

*neither are guaranteed to give you an edge, but these should help

With traction it should do better than 10s.
If he only runs 10s after all that he should have just left it stock.

Ok, just satisfy my curiosity: why is your dad going for a turbo at only 13psi vs a KB or Whipple if he only wants 10s?
I'm not trying to say what he should or shouldn't do. I really am just curious.
Also does he hang around modularfords, stangnet, corral, modulardepot etc? I might have crossed paths with him.

lol...ok, here we go...deep breath...

he first had a 2.2KB, ran a 10.66 @ 135, about 23 psi...then he went to the 2.4KB, ran a best of 10.4@130ish...He has a 4R70W automatic instead of the 6-speed and a solid axle...he then put nitrous on with the 2.4, but the motor couldnt take it, and it damaged just a little tiny part of the head, very small, so he had it milled down. Now he is going to a hellion turbo because he has tuned a few turbo cars and loves them. Yes, I did say tune, he is an SCT tuner . With about 13 psi, which is quite a bit lower than 23, since there is less stress on the motor from no belt driven blower The Cobra will do 10s, with the short block being rebuilt, it will definitely do 10s. The turbo kit is a 76mm I think with dual wastegates...it will be sick with the automatic. With 22 psi, it will run 9s. With 15 psi + 150 shot, it willl be deep into the 9s Coming soon this summer.

Yes, if you were wondering, he did tune the focus, and is also co-owner of Billetspeed/Innovative Diesel Performance...

And I believe he is on modfords.com and SVT performance, but mostly on modfords.
