Fatherhood x3 Forces Sale - Anyone Interested? *CLOSED*

No, I'm not selling my children...I recently found out that my wife is having twins in about six months - twins + child #1 = 3...and the SVT won't hold that many car seats. We (the missus) have decided that we will keep our Altima 3.5 SE and trade or sell my 2003 ZX5 SVT...for a minivan.
It is Pitch Black and has 22,000 miles. See my signature for mod info (nearly stock). I am 33 and maintain the heck out of my SVTF and have had all relevant TSBs performed (Clutch, PCM). Condition is excellent, no, really... no accidents, nothing wrong. ASKING Kelley Blue Book Suggested Private Party Price = $13,000 (last time I checked). I live in Connecticut and we can discuss local delivery.

trading your focus for a minivan sounds like a crime, but given the facts it's understandable.

Minivan...I dread that day...

...I think when my car is paid off, I'll take my wifes car (2004 Mazda 3S sedan); mod the crap outta that, and buy her an explorer with three rows. She wants an Explorer anyhoo, so it kinda works out.

I cant wait till that day comes for us (the kid part)...

Congrats on the twins. Sorry about the SVTF. Are you sure the Altima stays? Does it have such a bigger back seat?

I became a minivan owner five years ago with kid number two: there is no substitute. Especially when the the kids are tiny. The walk-through cabin, the auto sliding doors, the cargo space behind row #3... No SUV does what a minivan does; it hauls people and their gear efficiently from point A to point B. The fact that I routinely pull the seats out and treat it like a cargo van is strictly gravy.

But the Altima? My wife had a rule when I was car shopping in '02: My car must be capable of playing alternate minivan if needed. We only had two car seats, so the SVTF was approved. The Miata I would have bought will have to wait another... dozen years or so. But what does the Altima do for you? You know the wife will rarely drive it. You and she will rarely have tickets to the opera, where showing up in style might mean something.

Push back I say! Sell the 3.5 liter fuel burner! Keep the boy racer inside you alive! These days my son is five and he watches from his booster seat as I heel-and-toe onto highway on-ramps and dance through traffic with aplomb. Is the Altima an automatic? What will your children be learning? The SVTF is better for the CHILDREN!

OMG, I just noticed your SVTF is a 5 door! How much more practical can it be? Can the Altima bring home the new baby furniture in ITS trunk?

Y'all don't get it, the Altima is HER car!

When I was having so much trouble with my SVTF, my wife suggested we get rid of it and buy a small two wheel drive pickup. Needless to say, that restored my faith in my SVTF and I stopped whining about little problems.

You see, he get the minivan until SHE needes it then they trade; for a while.

The Focus is the car I would have preferred to keep, but we are on the border of being upside-down on the Altima's loan, so the trade-in would get us nothing. If I trade in the Focus (weep!) I get more toward a down-payment on the minivan (sob!). We're trading it in on a Honda minivan - they have fairly sharp driving dynamics, so at least it's kinda responsive (I'll just keep telling myself that until I believe it...).
