The RS springs arrived, i was working so fast i forgot to take pictures.

The front RS spring is lower by 5 centimeters compared to original. The front is lower now by 4 cm with the RS springs. Looking at the rear spring, i was shocked, it is lower by 6-7 cm compared to original ones. Also the rear RS absorter is shorter by 7 cm. After i installed the rear is lower by only 1,5 cm. I took a trial ride. Awesome suspension... Very stiff and handling is just better..

Just one picture i have now, i have to wash the car to show you;-))

Left spring: RS lowering 1,5 cm
Center spring: Enzo lowering 5 cm
Right spring: original

Good luck with this project Andrew! I'm gonna subscribe to this thread because I can not wait to see the progress you make..and it looks like there's at least hundreds if not more than a thousand other people who are gonna be watchin your progress! Those Brembo's are pretty damn impressive! I have to ask you though...are you having any help with this project or are you doing this all from technical know-how? I can not think of anything I would rather do with my life (assuming I had the money...which I'm assuming you do!) than modify my focus to RS-spec or greater...Cheers man take it easy don't work too hard!

I'm sort of in shock that AndrewBoy hasn't been flamed off the board yet by the same group that chased cochyn out of here when he did his RS swap (some BS garbage about how it wasn't a "pure" RS.)

Looks good...out of curiosity, have you checked what you're going to spend on all the parts vs. buying an actual RS? Or would insurance rates be through the roof on an RS and its cheaper to just adapt a regular Focus to RS specs and not pay the increased rates? Keep us posted

Actually nobody helps me, i do 95% the job alone. Of course when i had to put the knockle - ballbearing and hub together, i was not able to do it home. It's a slow project, lot of money and hard work. At the moment i spent abt 5000 usd for the suspension, brake, tyres, wheels and for the wider fenders, bumber. it can sound cheap, but i sold old bumper, old springs, brakes, wheels, tyres etc. and i'm working like a dog..

i checked everything before the project,

used rs: 30000-35000 usd

my car was with all the goodies: 11500-12000 USD
+ suspension, brake, full exterrior: 6000 USD
engine: 8500 USD
interrior: 2500 USD

this is almost 30000 USD
and have better car than the RS and with new tyres, brakes, engine etc.

The insurance is the same for the RS and normal 2.0 foci, here we pay insurance after the size of the engine, power does not matter.

the rear fenders will be ready for the next month, i shot some pictures in the weekend.

So, just see where we are at the moment;-)

1st step: wheels/tyres, brakes, absorters, springs (whole suspension)
2nd step: front fenders/front bumper/RS springs

3rd step: rear fenders/rear bumper/RS springs
4th step: engine and engine management.
5th step: interrior (leather sparco, car pc, etc)
6th step: four wheel drive

First 2 steps are passed!
3rd step will be passed next month!
4th step will start soon. Turned out there is good chance to keep the original ecu and use an aftermarket for the engine management. Two possibilities i'm checking, motec and wolf, and there is another hungarian stuff which is very cheap, same capability as the motec, but eh... we will see.

I have to make an electronic device which enables o2 sensor, camshaft position sensor, crankshaft position sensor, temperature sensor to be splietted. the old ecu must receive data from sensors or the amplified inputs would die in case of no signals and brake the ecu down.

On the basis of the above, i can keep my old goodies in the car, abs, esp and a/c and the instrument cluster.

Once i have the extre ecu working fine, i will start build the engine.

I have few questions...

i have a used block with 95.000 mile.. can i keep it? or do i have to change? what pistons/connection rods do you suggest? i guess i will go for a fordracing intake manifold and also for a 70 mm throttle body. But question how can i link them together to have idle valve working? lot of questions;-) maybe t28bb turbo etc...

what do you suggest to reach 300 whp? what configuration do you recommend? i have never built a turbo engine.

thx

andrew

the 95,000 miles is fine when you take your motor apart just have it honed, crower rods and je 9:1 pistons will be fine. gt28rs is about 1,100 bux it is a great turbo but for 300 whp a t3 super 60 will be great and faster spooling.

anything else for turbo you need let me kno.

I've said it before; the reasons to move to Europe just keep piling up. If it was possible I'd do it in a heartbeat

That's one badass Focus you've got there...keep up the good work

Only in hungary;-) At the neighbours you have to pay on the basis of the power of the engine and also on the emission.
