Heated front screen not working

Hello all,

I'm new to the forum and I have a bit of a problem.

I have (or strictly speaking my wife has) a 2001 1.8 zetec 5dr Focus. A great little car that although a bit lacking in the grunt department really is fun to drive due to the excellent handling.

However it has recently developed a problem with the heated front screen. Only half of it works, the passenger side. I have checked the fuse, but since there is only one and the passenger side still works I guessed it would be ok. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance

Test the pads by unplugging them from the seat. If the pads are ok its the switch.

Thanks to, t14086:

Start car & switch on interior light, dont look directly at the light but just slightly off (inch or 2 away) & switch on heated front screen, you can hear the relay click aswell. You should see the interior light dim for at least 2-3 seconds until the alternator raises its output.Chanes are it will not so next test for live & earth at lower corners of screen under scuttle panel,if you have your live & earth then its the screen end of story

Cheers Randy, I will give it a go. If it turns out that the screen is stuffed then I won't be replacing it, not for how much ford charge anyway.....
