Up the PSI or no...

Well guys, the SPI is running pretty good. I'm considering bumping the PSI from ~8 to 10. What do you think? Should I or not?

There are some reasons I ask.

Negatives:

A. The initial tune was for 5 psi and the tuner expected a compensation from the ECU to approximately 7 psi.

B. We STILL don't know the threshold of the internals.

C. Don't have the rebuild stuff yet.

Positives:

A. Not a daily driver, so if it breaks, it can sit for a while and it's okay.

B. It SEEMS to be handling ~8 psi nicely, and that's only 2 more psi. 2 psi is alot, though, if the tune can't compensate.

C. Boost is addicting.

D. Boost gets you laid.

I'm thinking I have the urge due to the positive "C," and I think I'm gonna' due to positive "D."

Don't just vote, give me input. I NEED INPUT...

JOHNNY 5 IS ALIVE!

Sorry, it's late. Commence the convo. :D

I need a hero dooddoodoo ...sorry listening to my JOHNNY 5 soundtrack.
I say bump bump bump it up.
Because hey, you only get to live once so you might as well boost the hell out of it.
But I wouldn't take it more than that. also since its not your daily driver. Plus you can say "hey I have 10 psi in my spi."Like you said its late ,and I start to act goofy.

Yeah my bet is the internals can handle about 275hp before needing to go with a full out built bottom end....let us know what you blow out at. That way I know not to aim for over that much until my bottom end is built.

Where did you get that number? Out-of-ass guess, or is it legitimate?

well some of us Escort tuners believe the internals to be able to handle up to 250hp, but the closest we came to that mark was 236 and something like 272 torque, we know the axles cant handle much over the 215hp mark, but I think the engine internals are closer to being rated at 275hp, whether or not thats all manageable has yet to be proven.

Boost it ! I don't know a damn thing about turbocharging, so I would do it in ignorance. Your knowledge is holding you back......unlearn !
