My stock hood took a beating

Ok guys and girls,
My stock hood took the rath of wilma and some roof tiles. I can pay to get it painted at the ford dealer or get a new hood all together. I don't know how much the hood will cost to re-paint. I would imagine 4 bills or so. What do you guys think, and what brands. Web sites will help so I can see pics. I heard there is an evo hood. Is this true.

if you go to a local body shop and shop around i'm sure you can get it painted for $200 but make sure they take out the orange peel effect. If not go invest in a CF hood for $600-700 :)

hey man, i can get you a brand new hood in the box for $90, and then a decent small shop can paint it up for ~$200 - $300 (PPG is good) thats what i did. i can get those hoods all day long too. thier OEM style, a little lighter than stock though, thier real nice.

^^ thats a better idea.

That way you do not have to pay the shop to bang out and fill the dents.

I would say go aftermarket. I mean depending on damage, if it was a couple nickel/quarter sized dents it would probably be more effective to just have them fixed. But I don't get the impression that's the case!

I have a FINE specimen OEM style steel hood, weighs about 30 lbs Because it's stock. I figure someone local will want it eventually...

Anyway, there is an Evo style hood, I'm pretty sure VIS makes it? There's quite a few options depending on your taste. I'd start with a body shop estimate and go from there. Is insurance cutting you check or you doing it out of pocket?
