IB5 tranny fluid change, which is it?

Assuming the g/f has an IB5 tranny (2000 SE w/ SPI motor)...

Lost some fluid in a engine swap. Need to fill the tranny up a bit.

Quote:
The IB5 tranny does not have holes to take off fluid.. and refill.. you got to take off the drive shaft and then drain it and fill it back to spec.

chances are your car may have the IB5 tranny, I know my 2000 LX has that tranny.. I got around 70K and still hasnt been changed.. but i guess ford hasnt said anything so im not changing..

I checked with my local Ford dealer.. I am a regular around there. The retail on the fluid is 17.29 a quart.. They sell it acroos the counter at 16.19...So somebody is trying to rip you off...I don't mind someone making a profit but $30 a quart is sad...

Also there is a drain plug, just look at the bottom of the tranny up in the small recess hole, it uses a 8MM allen wrench to pull a plug out..

The fill plug is the same and it is on the front of the tranny

only the mtx75 has a drain plug, the ib5 you have to pull the driveshaft out.
